"It might sound funny to you, but my only talent is in martial arts ... he [Ji-tae] has nothing to lose! But for me..!" - Kim Dong-won[1]
Kim Dong-won is a second year student at Nam-il High from Fight Class 2-1.
Appearance[]
Kim Dong-won is of taller than average with a robust build. His head is shaved and he has a large tattoo in the form of a kanji spelling the word "Receive", on top of his head. Dong-won has no eyebrows and he wears an earring in his right ear.
Plot[]
Kim Dong-won is introduced as a sophomore to our main protagonist Jiu Ji-tae. Kim Dong-won has a crush on Lee Jin-eun and he has confessed to her 4 times and have been rejected every time. Dong-won proceded to get a tattoo that was meant to say "Love", however, the tattoo erroneously says "Receive" instead, as stated by Na Ok-dong.[2]
Kim Dong-won is later singled out by the Nam-il High chairman to serve as Ji-tae's opponent in order for Ji-tae to gain admission to the Fight Classes. The stakes are very high for Kim Dong-won as a loss against Ji-tae would mean his immediate expulsion, with all rights to be in the fight classes forfeit.
Abilities[]
"Dong-won-sunbae is also a talented fighter amidst the fierce competition" noted by Na Ok-dong.[1] Dong-won and Yeo Eun-Sol are tied for the 1st place record of highest deadlift of 230kg.[3]
Kim Dong-won is shown to be knocked out by a straight knee (strike) by Maria Dacascos.[2] It is noted by Maria that Dong-won has average reflexes and that he would not be able to properly react and block an armbar attempt before it has happened.[4]
Personality[]
Kim Dong-won believes himself to be a very macho man, showing his love for Lee Jin-eun in the form of a tattoo even after being rejected 4 times.[2] He is also shown to be someone who shows his emotions very easily and he is not able to lie with a straight face.[5] Dong-won is not above spying on his adversary to gain an advantage against them.[6] He is also not against to using illegal moves such as soccer kicks.[4]
