WOAD (1300 AM) is a radio station licensed to Jackson with an urban gospel format and is owned by Inner City Broadcasting Corporation.
History
WOAD began broadcasting in March, 1984. At that time, the station's frequency was 1400 kHz. However, WOAD had briefly simulcasted on 92.9 MHz.
In March, 1996, WOAD had moved to the more powerful 1300 kHz, after swapping frequencies with then-sister station WKXI-AM.
On January 11, 2004, WOAD made its second move to FM—at 105.9 MHz—in order to compete with Clear Channel-owned WHLH. Unfortunately, WHLH always got higher Arbitron ratings than WOAD-AM and -FM combined.
On July 2, 2009, WOAD dropped its FM simulcast and resumed AM-only broadcasting.
