CAIRO - 14 January 2025: Egypt endured a challenging period under the rule of the Muslim Brotherhood, whose governance threatened national unity and identity. After ousting their regime, Egypt embarked on a determined battle against terrorism, uniting its people and military to eradicate the group’s influence.

Despite ongoing attempts by the Brotherhood to exploit vulnerabilities and manipulate public opinion, the Egyptian state and the awareness of its citizens continue to thwart their malicious plans.

Essam Hilal, Deputy Chair of the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee in the Senate, emphasized that the Brotherhood consistently seeks entry points to influence Egyptian and global public opinion.

They exploit economic hardships and religious sentiments to propagate their ideas, aiming to manipulate those unaware of their crimes against Egypt. Educating the younger generations about these crimes and the group’s destructive ideologies is crucial to safeguard national stability.

Hilal also highlighted Egypt's resilience against the Brotherhood's attempts to turn the nation into a battlefield for their interests. The collective efforts of the Egyptian people and military played a pivotal role in combating terrorism, with sacrifices made by the country's heroes. He underscored the ongoing necessity of fostering awareness among Egyptians to counteract potential threats and reaffirm the military's mission to protect the nation.

Major General Ibrahim El-Masry, Deputy Chair of the Defense and National Security Committee in Parliament, noted that Egypt adopted strategic measures to safeguard its institutions. The Brotherhood’s tactics included spreading fabricated videos and false news to instill fear and destabilize society. However, Egypt's Ministry of Interior, supported by the National Security Agency, effectively uncovered and dismantled their plots.

El-Masry credited the ministry's preemptive actions with exposing these schemes and maintaining public confidence. He acknowledged the state’s achievements, describing them as a robust defense against the Brotherhood’s efforts to disrupt national stability. Furthermore, he praised the Ministry of Interior's historic efforts in protecting the country during challenging times.

Dr. Tarek Al-Bardisi, an international relations expert, observed that the Brotherhood consistently used religion to advance their political agenda, exploiting economic challenges and the public’s intrinsic connection to faith. However, Egypt’s 2013 revolution dismantled their influence and safeguarded the nation from their conspiracies.

Al-Bardisi emphasized that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emerged as a pivotal figure in exposing the Brotherhood’s plans and responding to the people’s call to remove them. He underscored the state’s achievements over the past decade in combating the group through security and media efforts while simultaneously building a modern republic.

The revolution of June 30, 2013, exemplified Egypt’s collective awareness and courage, earning global recognition for its national aspirations. Al-Bardisi commended President El-Sisi’s leadership, which continues to direct Egypt toward realizing the dreams and ambitions of its people.

Egypt's success against the Brotherhood underscores the importance of public awareness in countering extremist ideologies. Through strategic planning, security measures, and public education, the nation remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining stability and fostering progress.
