CAIRO – 27 December 2024: Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf has made significant strides in preserving and expanding its Islamic heritage with the inauguration of 34 new mosques. This latest development is part of an ongoing initiative to renovate and modernize places of worship across the country.
Since July 1, 2024, the ministry has opened a total of 550 mosques. Of these, 394 were entirely reconstructed, while 156 underwent renovations and upgrades.
From July 2014 to date, the ministry has completed the reconstruction, maintenance, and furnishing of 12,631 mosques, at an estimated cost of LE20.31 billion.
