I’m having a brake from blogging! My daughter and my grandson are arriving this weekend,from the Netherlands,so i have to spent more time with them!

...gone to the beach very early in the morning,without crowds,and with protection.

Last week i saw this beautiful Owl watching me! It was sitting on the chimney!

It was the first time i saw and photographed an Owl!

I loved her big eyes and her beautiful plumage!

Rhodes Island

Rhodes, the largest of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, is known for its beach resorts, ancient ruins and remnants of its occupation by the Knights of St. John during the Crusades. The city of Rhodes has an Old Town featuring the medieval Street of the Knights and the castlelike Palace of the Grand Masters. Captured by the Ottomans and then held by the Italians, the palace is now a history museum.

The old Mandraki harbor,where according to tradition,the Colossus of Rhodes,one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World,once stood .(Source)

Two bronze deer statues mark the site, male and female, the island's symbols, they stand imperiously at the port's entrance.

Close to the entrance of the small old harbour stands the fort of Saint Nicholas and near the fortress three stone Byzantines Windmills lend the finishing touch to one of the loveliest views of the town.

Opposite of the Mandraki harbor we find the New Market building in neo-colonial style with a large inner courtyard.

The Metropolitan Church of Virgin Mary’s Annunciation-Evagelismos.

The Medieval City of Rhodes (Old town of Rhodes) is an UNESCO world cultural heritage monument (since 1988). In fact this is the largest, oldest and best preserved inhabited medieval town in Europe.

My Greek Summer (Port Rafti)

Good morning dear friends! Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!
Through the pandemic,very often we go at Porto Rafti,for a walk,early in the morning,or for having a coffee with the gorgeous view of the sea!

Porto Rafti is a seaside resort town on the Eastern coastline of Athens,taking its name from Rafti island,which is visible just of the headline.

A few small island lay scattered within the bay and Porto Rafti is surrounding by pine cladded hills and mountains.

Naxos is a Greek island in the South Aegean,the largest of the Cyclades island group.

It’s fertile landscape spans mountain villages,ancient ruins and long stretches of beach.

The namesake capital(also called Hora or Chora)is a port town filled with white cube shaped houses and Mariel all Venetian mansions.

Athanasios Diakos Village

Hello dear friends! I hope you are well and healthy!
The village of Athanasios Diakos is perfect for a quick weekend break.

The village is located in the mountains of Vardousia.

Athanasios Diakos village,is fortunate to be surrounded by Fir and Chestnut trees,Oaks,Cedars and Sycamores

The river runs through the village with the bridge that passes over in to be a meeting place for visitors and residents.

At the river all you could hear is the water rushing and the birds chirping.

You can find in the gardens of the village,many beautiful Hydrangeas!

Returning back to Athens,we saw those adorable horses eating the grass.

The sea sets me free...

Hello dear friends!I hope all of you are well!

I’m lucky to live in an area where we have both seaside and mountain sides.

I love the sea and swimming too!

I can stay,there,for hours at the seaside...

and enjoy the sea breeze,and listen to the waves!

In April,through the lockdown,many beautiful birds had visit my yard!

Καλό Καλοκαίρι 🏖

Καλημέρα φίλοι μου!Καλό μήνα καί καλό Καλοκαίρι εύχομαι σέ όλους σας,μέ υγεία!
Μετά από από ενάμιση χρόνο,πάλι κοντά σας!
Έγιναν τόσα πόλλα μέσα σέ αυτό διαστήμα,τής απουσίας μου.Προβλήματα υγείας,ο θάνατος τού πατέρα μου,πριν ένα χρόνο,πού μέ συγκλόνισε,ληστεία στο σπίτι μας,τόν περασμένο Νοέμβριο,καί μέ αποκορύφωμα τόν covid 19,μέ την δίμηνη καραντίνα,καί τόν τρόμο γιά ότι έγινε παγκοσμίως,από την πανδημία.
Μπαίνουμε σιγά,σιγά στήν καθημερηνότητά μας,μέ προφήλαξη καί τά μέτρα προστασίας.

Τήν Άνοιξη την χάσαμε,λόγω εγκλεισμού,άς χαρούμε τό όμορφο Ελληνικό Καλοκαίρι!

Οί βόλτες στήν παραλία,απαγορευμένες,τώρα σχεδόν κάθε μέρα απολαμβάνω νά περπατώ καί νά αποτυπώνω μέ τόν φακό μου,τίς ομορφίες τής περιοχής μου!

Οι φράουλες σιγά,σιγά μεγαλώνουν καί ωριμάζουν!

Η παρατήρηση στά αγαπημένα μου,πουλιά,συνεχείζεται...

Ξεκίνησα,δειλά,δειλά τά πρώτα θαλασσινά μπάνια...

Απολαμβάνω τά εκπληκτικά ηλιοβασιλέματα...

Καλοκαίρι πάντα μέ Βασιλικούς νά στολίζουν τόν κήπο μας...

Καί απολαμβάνοντας ένα καφέ Ελληνικό μέ θέα τήν αγαπημένη μου,θάλασσα!⛵️

Eύχομαι νά είστε όλοι καλά καί οι αγαπημένοι σας τό ίδιο!Πολύ σύντομα θά σάς επισκεφτώ νά μάθω τά νέα σας!
Σάς εύχομαι υγεία καί καλό Σαββατοκύριακο!

A beauty of the black Swan

Good morning dear friends!

I hope you had a great week!One Winter morning at my walk in Port Rafti,i was surprised to see this Black Swan on the beach!

The black Swan is unique and stunning too!It's hind feathers are curly and stylish,with white accents underneath.

Black Swans are large birds with mostly black plumage and red bills.

The Swan really seems so much more than just a bird!

The beauty of a Swan is hard to describe in words!

It's something we have to experience with all our senses!

To my great delight i was able to capture some of these special moments with my camera!

Is'nt the black Swan such a beautiful critter? So graceful and elegant!Love these birds!

Merry Christmas to all 🎄

Hello dear friends!Our Christmas tree is finally up!
Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year so i am always so eager to get things started!

I am so happy that the tree is up,it finally feels festive around here and i,m loving it!

Greek Christmas Honey cookies.

I made the traditional Greek Christmas Honey cookies.

Just like any other tradiotional Greek recipe,every family has their own vesion.

Melomakarona are made with olive oil,honey,orange juice,and walnuts but also flour and sugar!

Kourabiedes

In Greece two of the most popular desserts that are made during the holiday season,are Kourabiedes and Melomakarona.

Kourabiedes are butter almond cookies,similar to a shortbread.

After they are baked,they are dusted with copious amounts of powerd sugar!

Festive chocolates, made with white chocolate.

Varkiza,a seaside escape

Good morning dear friends! I hope your week was great!

One of my favorite seaside suburb,only 10 minutes drive from my house,is Varkiza.

Like to walk at this beautiful park,enjoying the fresh sea air mixed with the scent of local trees and of course the blue sea!

Varkiza is a beautiful seaside settlement built at a shore of the Saronic gulf,and it is one of the most expensive areas in the country.

The once quiet and picturesque fisherman village,is today a busy place,especially in Summer.

With organized beaches that have fields,facilities for sea sports,and many restaurants and cafes.

This is my favorite spot,to have a coffee and watch the fishing port and the blue sea!

A Summer afternoon at Cape Sounion

Cape Sounion

Good morning dear friends!I hope you had great week!

Cape Sounion is one of our favorite spot of Athens Riviera!

We enjoy swimming in the crystal blue sea,and the breathtaking view of the Temple of Poseidon!

Next to the beach,right on the water, is the tavern Akrogyiali,and a good place to watch the sunset.

The colors at the time of the sunset, are breathtaking!

The views are stunning over the deep turquoise Aegean sea and the Temple of Poseidon on the peninsular.

I love watching the Gulls and taking pictures of them.

Happy December to all!
I was lucky watching this beautiful Robin bird,singing in my yard!
The Robin bird is,without doubt,one of my favotite garden birds!

This was the only best picture from all the shots i had took!

Last week was a wet and cold week!Something unusual for November here in Athens!

These roses are a wonderful gift to the garden!

I love taking pictures of the tiny droplets,on the petals of the red roses!

They look like small diamonds,don't you agree?

I had a great harvest of the lemons and oranges from our citrus trees!

The Venetian port- Nafpaktos

Nafpaktos

Hello dear friends! I hope you had a great week!

I have more pictures to share with you today,from my trip to beautiful Nafpaktos.

What makes Nafpaktos so unique is that it combines the sea with the mountains and that it's an all year round destination.

Here is the small pond with the preety geese,swans and ducks.

There is a big square at the center of the city with a Plane tree in the middle and lots of cafes to have a coffee and enjoy the most picturesque spot of Nafpaktos, the lovely Lepanto port.

Nafpaktos is a town with rich history.The famous battle of Lepanto took place here on 7 Octomber 1571 and it was a naval engagement between the fleet of the Holy League ant the Ottoman forces.

At the port you will see a statue of Cervantes who lost his arm in a naval fight in the battle of Lepanto.

The Venetian port is surrounded by the fortifications walls of the castle.

Nafpaktos- Greece

Hello dear friends!I hope you had a great week!The weather has change here!
It's cold and rainy today!

At the end of August me and my family went for vacation in one of our favorite parts of Greece,Nafpaktos!

The journey from Athens lasts 3 hours,and here we cross the Rio-Antirio bridge!
So impressive bridge,indeed!

Nafpaktos it's one of the most picturesque places in the mainland!

Gribovo is a nice beach in a walking distance from Nafpaktos city centre,and it has many fish taverns and some family hotels!

It's our favorite spot in Nafpaktos !

Meteora is one the gems of Greece.Located near the town of Kalampaka,in northwestern Thessaly.

It consists of a number of rock pinnacles topped with a total of 24 monasteries,6 of witch are still in use and open to the visitors,while the others are abandoned.

Autumn blooms

I like having Chrysanthemums in my Autumn garden!One of my favorite flowers!

Chrysanthemum comes from Greek word 'Chrys',meaning golden,and 'Anthemon',meaning flower.

Love the feast of Autumn colors and the excellent shades!

Not least is the joy of watching plants erupting into vivid bloom,at a time when so many others have long ago begun the slow,sad,seasonal descent below ground.

Mirabilis Jalapa,or Four O'clock,come in a variety of shades and colors!

This beautiful flower blooms in the middle of the night.

Malieveld is an amazing park in The Hague!Located right across the Central Station,this park is like an oasis in the heart of the city!

What makes this park so special is you can find a wide variety of birds in their natural environment!

After 5 minutes sitting on a bench and enjoying my coffee,i saw geese fighting each other,ducks swimming in the pond,and a duck building a nest!

I always enjoy the walk along the grass field.

Ο καιρός καλά κρατεί στήν Αττική,καί οί βόλτες μας συνεχίζονται στίς όμορφες
παραλίες μας!

Ακόμα καί τά θαλασσινά μπάνια δέν σταμάτησαν γιά εμάς αλλά καί γιά πολλόυς κατοίκους αλλά καί τουρίστες, στήν περιοχή μας!

Καλημέρα φίλοι μου! Ευχομαι όλοι νά είστε καλά!Ο καιρός άκρως Φθινοπωρινός σήμερα!

Τόν Απρίλιο στό ταξίδι μου στην Ολλανδία,επισκέφτηκα γιά άλλη μιά φορά,τήν παραμυθένια πόλη,Ντέλφτ!

Ντέλφτ...Η πόλη οφείλει την ονομασία της στη λέξη Delft, έναν όρο της παλαιάς ολλανδικής που σήμαινε στην κυριολεξία «σκαμμένη υδάτινη οδό», δηλαδή τεχνητό -όχι φυσικό- πλεύσιμο κανάλι. Η λέξη αυτή, σημειωτέον, απαντάται μόνο στην περιοχή του Ντελφτ. Στο σημείο που αυτό το Delft διασταυρωνόταν με τον διπλανό ποταμό Χάντελ (Gantel), δημιουργήθηκε ο πρώτος οικισμός.

Στό ιστορικό κέντρο μπορεί νά θαυμάσει κανείς τά γραφικά κτήρια καί τά ιδιαίτερα κανάλια,πού είναι ιδανικά γιά περιπάτους!

Ημέρες Φθινοπωρινές,μέ μιά γλυκειά μελαγχολία,καί βρίσκούμε τρόπους ,νά μήν μελαγχολήσουμε!Βόλτες στήν παραλία!

Χρυσοκίτρινα φύλλα παντού,γλυκός ο καιρός ακόμα!

Φθινόπωρο σημαίνει βροχή καί βροχή σημαίνει ζωή!

Tί καλύτερο από ένα άκρως Φθινοπωρινό γλυκό,πού συνδυάζεται τέλεια μέ ζεστό καφέ!

Μήλα,κανέλα,σταφίδα καί καστανή ζάχαρι πού θά μοσχοβολήσει όλο τό σπίτι!

Autumn in the Hague !

Kαλησπέρα φίλοι μου!Φθινοπωρινές εικόνες από τήν Χάγη,στην Ολλανδία!

Οί αλλαγές της φύσης τό Φθινόπωρο είναι εντυπωσιακές,καθώς τά δέντρα αλλάζουν χρώματα,καί από τό απόλυτο πράσινο,φοράνε ένα πορτοκολί πέπλο!

Ζωντανές αποχρώσεις τού κόκκινου,κίτρινου καί πορτοκαλί,κοσμούν τά φύλλα τών δέντρων!

Τά χρώματα τής φύσης το Φθινόπωρο,είναι πραγματικά εκπληκτικά!

Τίποτα δέν μπορεί νά συγκριθεί μέ τήν φύση πού αλλάζει,καί φοράει τά Φθινοπωρινά της χρώματα!

Περιμένοντας τόν κυκλώνα Ζορμπά,πού ακούγεται έξω νά πλησιάζει φίλοι μου.Εύχομαι η μανία του νά μήν είναι δυνατή στό πέρασμά του...
