Although I have been listening to jazz guitar since the late 70's, I only discovered this guitarist recently through the Jazz Vinyl Lovers group. Wilkins is definitely a modernist compared to players like Tal Farlow or Johnny Smith.
The vinyl is hard to find, but you will be pleased with this CD. The production is excellent, with particular emphasis on the bass lines. The drum sounds are quite natural.
The versions of Red Clay and Naima are spot on. No self-indulgence.
