BEEMINDER INTEGRATION!

We’ve got some great news – we’ve launched the first stage of our integration with Beeminder! Now you can automatically use Beeminder to track your remaining To-Dos or your completed To-Dos. Many thanks to HabitRPG’s wonderful Alice Harris and Beeminder’s awesome Alice Monday for working on this collaboration!

What’s Beeminder?

Like HabitRPG, Beeminder is a service that helps keep you motivated and accountable for your tasks. That’s why we have so many users in common! Instead of splitting up tasks into Dailies, Habits, and To-Dos, in Beeminder you set a goal for yourself. Beeminder plots your progress towards your goal along a “yellow brick road.” What keeps you accountable? Well, Beeminder packs a significant “sting” – if you fall off track, they take your money. (And yes, Habiticans, that’s real-life money, not just in-game gold!) HabitRPG tends to focus on rewards, not punishment, so if you’ve been craving some hard-core consequences to wallop you into action, then you should definitely check out Beeminder.

How the integration works

Right now, the integration only works in one direction – tracking HabitRPG To-Dos within Beeminder. You can beemind your remaining To-Dos to encourage yourself to slice through a too-long list, or you can beemind your completed To-Dos to make sure you keep ticking them off. If you like, you can do both!

This is just the beginning. In the future, we’ll be implementing ways to track Beeminder contracts within HabitRPG, such as automatically getting XP for entering Beeminder data or gaining GP for giving yourself a 7-day safety buffer.

Some important notes

So you’re excited to try it out? Awesome! There are just two things to keep in mind to make sure you have the best experience.

1. If you’re tracking completed To-Dos, make sure not to delete those completed To-Dos, or you’ll be dragged straight off your “yellow brick road.” The good news is that we’re already working on a fix so that this will not be an issue in the future!

2. Challenge To-Dos don’t count, so you can join and leave Challenges as much as you’d like - and you won’t veer off track if the creator of a Challenge decides to add fifty more To-Dos.

So what are you waiting for? Check out our Beeminder Integration HERE!
