Police Courier Fraud

Courier fraud is on the rise, with almost £30 million being stolen from people in the last year. This scam is when criminals pretend to be police or bank officials 'investigating fraud', and usually convince victims people to hand over cash and bank cards on their doorsteps to someone pretending to be a 'courier'.

But now, BBC Radio 2's Tony Blackburn investigates the latest tactics in this ever-evolving scam, and heads behind the scenes with 83-year-old, Elspeth, who was part of a police sting to help catch her scammers.
