TartarusTartarus are a pair of weapons made out of rubble from the fallen Umbran Clock Tower introduced in Bayonetta 3. Used in a similar manner to a pair of tonfa, they are capable of shielding Bayonetta as well as summoning other devices from behind the gate created when combining them together.

In-Game Description[]

A pair of thick, steel weapons with a gatelike design. Created with rubble from the fallen Umbran clock tower, their weight and the sharp spikes that adorn them result in catastrophic destructive power.

Additionally, the "gate" can open to reveal a variety of offensive machinery like gatling guns and spiked arms.

Some say that the weapons were created by rancor of the Umbra Witches who lost their lives when the clock tower was toppled, and that the restless spirits thronging just behind the gate are those of the women after melding with the miasma of Inferno.

When these weapons are used in tandem with Demon Masquerade, the spirits of the fallen Umbra flow into the user, transforming them into a mechanical marionette that is immune to pain and simply continues to fight.

Design[]

Tartarus is a big weapon with a gate design. It is mostly coloured patina green with some red details and bronze coloured spikes on top. The weapon has two handles for swinging and images of witches, sculpted onto its doors, the weapon can split in two or be used whole. The doors can open, revealing a mechanical claw, spiked ball in a chain, chainguns or even a vortex that sucks enemies in. The weapon is strikingly similar to a puppet show stand with the two swinging doors, which is fitting with its Demon Masquerade. With Tartarus equipped, Bayonetta's steps and jumps generate simple magical circles without any distinct features.

How to Obtain[]

Tartarus is automatically obtained upon completing Chapter 11, along with the Umbran Clock Tower demon as an option for Demon Slave.

Unique Traits[]

UCT Demon Masquerade (Bayo)

Bayonetta's Demon Masquerade form while using Tartarus.

Tartarus act as a pair of tonfa-like weapons that combine into a turret shield. Both the spikes at the edge of the weapon and the body of the shield are both used to attack and bash enemies; while slow and lacking in range, it compensates with high attack power and the ability to block attacks by using its Charge Modifier. The gates on the weapon can open to create different attacks that mirror the demon sealed within.

Pressing Shoot opens the gate up to summon mini-guns with a slow start-up, but an extremely high rate of fire once fully charged.
