Who We Are

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Army ROTC Program forges the future leaders of the U.S Army. The young men and women in our program train to serve as military officers in the U.S. Army, all while taking regular college classes and experiencing everything UNC has to offer. Our Cadets are involved in numerous on-campus organizations, club sports, intramural sports, and volunteer groups. The Tar Heel Battalion has a tradition of producing officers of high character who are competent and committed.

Tar Heel BN Awarded The 2023 MacArthur Award!

The Tar Heel BN was recognized as the top program in 4th Brigade. Built around a commitment to quality leadership and involvement in the UNC and Chapel Hill community, the Battalion upholds a high standard of excellence. Read more about it here.
