This book is a real gem. The content and delivery is so captivating that I found myself learning new concepts and ideas, and enjoying big time. Jill addresses the topic of Productivity from the angle of a Sales Person in particular, but the concepts are valuable for any profession where thinking and strategizing is important.
Part I of the book does a terrific job of braking down on how our brain works and how these brain-hijacking activities take control of our brain and ruin our productivity and goals. She makes a clear case on what is wrong with us, humans, and how to prevent our distraction-prone amygdala from running the show.
In Part II, Jill shows us on how to recover Lost Time and she puts out concrete strategies and tools on how to rescue one to two hours per day by following those. This part is actually the MUST HAVE ToolBox for any professional who wants their time back.
Part III of the book is my favorite. The concept of "Unless we live by design, we live by default" is broken down to small pieces. Jill tells you, a seller, what activities needs to be prioritized in order to reach your Sales Quota and success in Sales, generally. She combines the Pomodoro technique and ONE Thing concept (G. Keller & J. Papasan) in such way that it designs a powerful daily routine for any aspiring Sales champion.
In Part IV Jill tells us how to make all of this easier. This part invigorated me and prompted me to start applying these concepts immediately.

As someone who talks with lots of sellers and sales leaders, the issue of time is nearly always the biggest challenge from their point of view. Do they not have enough time or are they not using their time in the best manner for a successful sales person? In More Sales, Less Time, storyteller Jill Konrath gives example after example of ways to be more effective. She can't give you more time but if you read the book there are numerous ways to restructure your day to gain time back. I like how she conducts experiments to learn about her own time issues and combines with the latest research about the brain and psychology to validate her ideas. It's a must read, and one of those books that has broad appeal - it makes a great sales "book club" book if you do that at your company. Get all the sales reps a copy - give them 10 days to read it - then have a lunch and learn to discuss it.

I love that the research has been done for me so that I can quickly implement sales processes that I know are going to create more productive habits. It all makes perfect sense that what we've learned in the past doesn't necessarily apply to the computer age. After reading the book and implementing some changes, I feel more in balance personally and less like a cog in the wheel of production. I am still just as busy but I get more done in a shorter period of time with time left over to use as I choose. It's a work in progress as I make little changes but the little changes stack up to a very big difference.

This is the perfect book to read if you're like me in trying to find more time to get things done. The author does a great job of walking you through her own issues dealing with productivity which to me made the book much more than a "how to" manual. The title is More Sales Less Time but I it applies to everyone. The timing is perfect with it be being the end of the year when we all do the typical year-end assessment and look to make improvements in the year to come.

Two sections I liked a lot included the "Time Master Manifesto" and the Appendix. Yes, I said the Appendix because it lists videos, apps, books and other tools worth checking out in the quest to get more done in less time.

I always like Jill’s books and this is no exception. It’s easy to read and there are literally dozens of great tips for salespeople who need a bit of a gentle prod into action. One minor point is that this book is in hardcover format which is a vast improvement over Jill’s other books published in paperback, Snap Selling and Agile Selling. Whilst the other books are great sales books, the quality of the paper is exceptionally poor and cheap-looking (the publisher was definitely penny-pinching). Even if "More Sales Less Time" comes into paperback I would still recommend paying a bit extra for the hardback as just as feels better to read.
