HOPE XV VIDEOS NOW ON YOUTUBE

At long last we have put all the videos from HOPE XV up on YouTube. They can be found at Channel2600 along with videos from all of our conferences, dating back to 1994.

The videos are arranged in the order in which they were presented in all three tracks, plus two music performances. It's what people tell us is the best way to relive HOPE or to experience it for the first time. Also, this year we've added subtitles in four languages that are accessible on the YouTube interface.

If you want your own DRM-free and YouTube-free versions of all of these videos, you can find our HOPE XV thumb drive at our online store.

We're three weeks late, but better late than never. The Autumn issue of 2600 is now out!

HOPE XV VIDEOS NOW AVAILABLE

All of the talks from this summer's HOPE XV conference are now available on a 256 GB thumb drive and for download at our store. We also have a couple of new features: captioning in four languages and a full text transcript for each talk. You can find it all at: this link.

HOPE XV was great fun for all of us and we hope for you as well. If you weren't there, this is an opportunity to share the experience (and these recordings are meant to be shared - no DRM or copy control of any kind!).

We were blown away by the quality and diversity of the many presentations this year - and our new home at St. John's University really came into its own with some reconfiguration, much improved food options, and more interaction with the campus and surrounding communities.

Our next step is to get the talks onto Channel2600 on YouTube which involves a bit of jumping through their various hoops. Look for those in the next couple of weeks. Thanks as always for your support.

HOPE XV UPDATE ON T-SHIRTS AND BADGE KITS

We are still recovering from HOPE XV - what many have told us was the best HOPE conference ever. We want to thank everyone who attended, both in-person and virtually, as you're the ones who make these magical events possible.

This year, we tried out some new buildings and made changes based on feedback from 2022. We really think it worked well and we're all looking forward to doing this again.

We have leftover HOPE XV t-shirts! These black shirts have an image of our hoodie-adorned hacker owl while the back has a printout of a 1991 FOIA request regarding 2600 Magazine. You can get yours while supplies last at https://store.2600.com/collections/clothing/products/hope-xv-shirt .

We also have leftover HOPE hardware badge kits, which we'll throw in for free for anyone getting a shirt. These devices can do all kinds of nifty things - visit https://wiki.hope.net and explore the "HOPE XV Electronic Badge" section. They don't include batteries or buzzers, but you can power your badge with USB-C in the interim.

We're still working on HOPE XV videos which will be finalized in the weeks ahead, posted on YouTube, and made available on thumb drives as usual.

We're less than five days away from HOPE XV and excitement is in the air.

We will be shutting down online ticket sales at midnight, so if you want to be a part of this historic event, get your tickets before then! (Tickets will be available onsite, but at a higher price.) We have in-person and remote options. (If you bought tickets prior to this weekend, you should have received them within the past day at the email address you used when buying them - please email [email protected]">[email protected] if you didn't get yours. Tickets bought this weekend or today will be delivered Tuesday.)

HOPE NEEDS YOUR HELP! - UPDATE

HOPE XV is just about a month away and we're still adding talks, workshops, and special events to the program. Updates can be seen at https://www.hope.net.

We need your help to get the word out in order to keep this 30-year-old event going. For a variety of reasons, a number of which are affecting various events nationwide, our ticket sales are not where they need to be at this point. If you haven't bought a ticket yet, please do (https://store.2600.com/products/tickets-to-hope-xv), or if you can't attend in person but want to support us with a virtual ticket (https://store.2600.com/products/tickets-to-hope-xv-virtual-attendee), that will also help in a big way.

We need to sell another 300 tickets to get to where we need to be in order to make HOPE as great as we all anticipate. Nothing will stop the conference from happening (we're hackers after all and will figure out a way), but we want to avoid cutting back on expenditures that will ensure we can have the HOPE we all deserve. We believe we can meet this challenge and continue the tradition. But we need your help getting the word out, as that has been particularly difficult with Google's antics earlier this year and the overall fracturing of social media. Plus, in case you can't tell, we are absolutely terrible at PR.

But what we lack in promotion is made up for in the quality of the events we put on. The amount of enthusiasm from speakers, vendors, workshop presenters, and performers is higher than ever. If we can meet this one last challenge, this will be a truly historic event.

HOPE XV will take place at St. John's University from July 12-14, 2024.

VOLUME 40 OF THE HACKER DIGEST RELEASED
