pressure on embattled sheriff christina corpus to resign. the board this morning unanimously approving a proposal to put a measure on the next ballot in march, asking voters to amend the county charter that would allow supervisors to remove a sheriff with cause with a 4/5 vote. the move comes a week after a scathing report accused sheriff corpus of having improper work, romance and using racial as well as homophobic slurs. >> it does not benefit our community to have the type of chaos that we see happening right now at the sheriff's office. we are responsible for the safety net of this county. the safety net services, and for protecting our most vulnerable and right now, what's happening at our sheriff's office is impacting and negatively impacting public safety. >> we did not see sheriff corpus at the meeting. she was sworn in last year to a six year term. now, multiple lawmakers from the

peninsula are asking her to step down, but as ktvu jesse gary reports, the sheriff refuses to resign. >> i think that the sheriff needs to start putting the residents of san mateo county first. they didn't sign up for this chaos. >> california assembly member dianne papan monday, leading a group of peninsula area politicos in taking a stand. the five include congressional reps. mullin and eshoo, state senator josh becker and assembly members berman and pappin. they penned a letter collectively demanding embattled san mateo county sheriff cristina corpus resign. the turmoil that is engulfing the sheriff's office is continuing to damage the organization and its members, jeopardize public safety, and is exposing local taxpayers to avoidable liabilities. >> so it's time that she take a look at where she is, where the where the agency is. and again, this is a public safety agency. >> that agency has been in the spotlight since a damaging, voluminous report by retired superior court judge ladoris cordell was released last week.

it found evidence the sheriff abused her power, used racist and homophobic language while at work, and has an improper relationship with a subordinate, victor julie haener. he was recently promoted to assistant sheriff after the county board of supervisors terminated his position as chief of staff. supervisors have previously called for the sheriff's ouster to be accused of homophobia and intimidation, and abuse of power. >> you want to be on the record as saying that's not acceptable behavior for an elected official? i don't approve of that. i'm distancing myself from that. >> menlo college political scientist doctor melissa michaelson says the more prominent people join the chorus for corpus to go, the more likely the political pressure will have an effect. >> if enough people are chiming in that the elected official who is under siege will finally see like, hey, you know, i got no support here. it's time to cut my losses. >> the gang of five is hopeful their pen will be stronger than the sheriff's will, and lead her

to leave sooner, not later. >> hopefully, there is the. the sheriff will get some clarity. >> the san mateo county board of supervisors is moving forward with plans to remove the sheriff from office. they referred this case to the county district attorney and to the civil grand jury. we reached out again to the sheriff to see if she would sit down and talk with us, but we didn't hear back. in redwood city, jesse gary, ktvu, fox two news. >> a storm rolling into the bay area. we're going to see several days of rain and joining us to talk all about it is meteorologist roberto gonzalez tracking when it's all going to happen? roberta. sounds like the rain is going to be cold to cold rain until the atmospheric river begins to take its hold on the bay area. >> then our temperatures will rise, and we'll share that with you a little bit later with the five day forecast. right now, atmospheric river rain event. it begins later on tonight. and in the overnight hours, the target area happens to be the north bay with flooding rains and gusty winds. and we will see lighter

rain showers around the central bay, the south bay, the east ba. but boy, the snow is going to come down in feet in the high sierra. right now our live weather camera, we're already noticing the increasing cloud cover across the north bay, and all those clouds will gradually invade the entire bay area. i want to walk you through the timing of all of this. first things first. we do have a winter storm warning. it goes into effect tonight and it will remain in effect all the way through wednesday night, 10 p.m. we're talking a couple of feet of snow. easily in the greater lake tahoe area around the south shore at 6500ft. copious amounts in the higher elevations. then we have the wind advisory. that two goes into effect tonight at 10:00, and it remains in effect until thursday morning. we will be experiencing wind gusts at the sea surface level at 45mph. gusty winds in the higher elevations. then we have to talk about the flood watch for the north bay, 3 to 7in of rain, 6 to 10in of rain by the weekend. now we're going to tally it up

like this by this time tomorrow. over a half an inch of rain easily approaching about 7/10 of an inch of rain in santa rosa. but if you're in the livermore area, you're going to say what rain? everybody's overdoing this. know it's coming your way as well, but it's slow to move. it's going to stay stalled over the north bay. that's why we do anticipate the flooding there. but i want to talk about another weather event that's going to collide with that atmospheric river. right now we are in the mid 50s not seeing that effect as of yet. we'll talk about when you can anticipate that and when these winds will be on the increase. that's coming up in just a couple of minutes. >> looking forward to that. roberta. thank you. people in the north bay are bracing for what's to come over the next couple of days. ktvu is aly raisman spent the morning there, and she now shows us how homeowners and businesses are getting ready. >> these aisles will be packed, and i won't be surprised if we get some good weather and some good rain. if we have to completely reorder all this, which is great from tarps and plastic covers everywhere, from a five by seven tarp all the way

up to a 50 by 100, to rain gear and sump pumps. another item that's very popular when the rains happen to hit. >> the manager at jackson hardware in san rafael expects the next several days to be busy with heavy rainfall in the forecast. >> it brings out people to make sure that they're taking care of things that they may have put off, and also anticipate taking care of problems that might arise. sump pumps, etc. drainage to carry the water away from the house. >> the national weather service has called a flood watch for marin and sonoma counties for tuesday night through thursday. >> sounds like it's going to be fun starting probably tonight and especially tomorrow. >> the north bay is expected to get as much as 3 to 7in in the next couple of days, with even more rainfall forecast through the weekend. today, the sonoma county water agency will begin the process of lowering the rubber dam in the russian river in anticipation of the storm. >> it's good for all of us because the lakes fill up and we can go water skiing and enjoy it during summer, so we need that weather. obviously, it's just we need to make sure that it doesn't damage our property and

our our livelihood and houses. >> so i'm not worried about rain where i live. i also bought a sump pump just in case. it's good that the fire department continually makes sandbags and sand available at the terra linda community center in san rafael, there's a sandbag station ready in the parking lot for anyone who needs it. i'm not really at risk where i am, but i'm prepared enough that should, you know, should things get really crazy, i think we're okay. the national weather service is warning of the possibility of strong winds, even thunderstorms, through the weekend. >> as part of what it is calling the first significant atmospheric river of the season. in san rafael, allie rasmus ktv, fox two news. >> new at noon. health leaders are reporting a possible bird flu case in a child in alameda county. the california department of public health says the child was tested for mild upper respiratory symptoms. symptoms rather. the results showed a low level detection of the virus. the child is now recovering at home. public health officials are now investigating how the child might have been exposed, but

they say it's possible the child was exposed to some wild birds. we're just a little more than a week away from thanksgiving and airports are preparing for holiday travelers later this week. triple a says nearly 80 million people will travel 50 miles or more from their homes this thanksgiving travel period. that's about an increase of 1.7 million people compared to last year. 5.8 million americans are expected to fly, but most americans are expected to travel by car, with 9 million californians planning to drive this year. >> in california, though, it's more than half a dollar cheaper than it was this time last year, and it's one of the cheapest novembers we've seen over the past 4 or 5 years. so this is really something that those last minute travelers, somebody who thinks maybe we can get out this weekend. it's definitely gonna help. >> the tuesday before and the monday after thanksgiving are expected to be the busiest. so if you are driving, the worst time to travel is tuesday and wednesday afternoon. here in the bay area, the busiest day is expected to be that tuesday. the

26th, with interstate 80 between san francisco and sacramento expected to be the busiest. tsa is getting ready for one of the busiest thanksgiving travel periods ever. the agency is projected to screen 18.3 million people from thursday rather tuesday, november 26th to monday, december 2nd. that's a 6% increase from the same travel period last year. passenger volumes are at a record high this year, with 17% of an increase since 2022. the record for the busiest travel day so far this year was just after the 4th of july. that's when tsa screened more than 3 million people at airports. sunday, july seventh and san francisco international airport, preparing for that same busy travel season. it expects 160,000 passengers will come through sfo beginning this friday. in all, 6.3 million travelers are expected at sfo between thanksgiving day and new year's day. that's an estimated 15% increase over the 2023 holiday

travel levels. passengers are encouraged to arrive at the airport two hours before their domestic flights and at least three hours before the international flights. over in oakland, the city council is taking a closer look at the town's financial crisis and the growing budget deficit that's approaching $93 million. the city council may declare a fiscal emergency if the city doesn't come up with enough money, or make enough spending cuts to deal with the crisis. also, the city council is expected to receive a report about next year's financial projections and the city's current cash flow. >> the information that i'm after to show me the numbers, tell me the numbers and what impact will that make in the near future when it comes to public safety? when it comes to a clean city, oakland right now expected to end this fiscal year with a $93 million deficit within its general fund. >> and that helps pay for police, fire and other emergency services. a person shot by bart

parking lot. it happened shortly before 9:00 last night, and the parking lot of the union city bart station, just a few minutes ago, we heard from the bart police chief, kevin franklin, saying two officers were investigating reckless driving in the parking lot, and they were assaulted by the woman after making a traffic stop. >> two responding officers conducted a traffic stop. during the traffic stop, the driver is alleged to have assaulted a police officer, which led to one of the officers discharging their firearm. the suspect, 32 year old jasmine gao of union city, was shot in the upper body. gao was provided with immediate first aid and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. >> chief franklin says the suspect is in serious but stable condition. once medically cleared, she will face several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon on police. ukraine, marking 1000 days since russia launched the full scale invasion of ukraine by launching their first long range attack

of those allegations. last week, he resigned from congress after president elect trump picked him for attorney general. a big rain day coming tomorrow. let's check in with meteorologist roberto gonzalez. tracking all of us in. roberto. it's going to start all tomorrow night. >> it's going to start actually, tonight, overnight in the far reaches of the north bay. james. especially. and throughout mendocino county, which is going to get hammered with over a foot of rain between wednesday and friday. if our computer models are correct and one thing us meteorologists do enjoy is when the computer models are consistent and they have been at least for two and three days, this is our live weather camera looking out towards mount diablo, where the clouds are on the increase. these clouds are very high at this hour 20 and 25,000ft in elevation. the air temperature right now atop mount diablo 46 degrees. i want to walk you through the warnings, the watches, the advisories. first off, we do have the winter storm warning. it goes into effect tonight. well, actually,

later on this afternoon, 4 p.m, all the way through your wednesday at 10 p.m. that's when the snow is going to be on the fly in the high sierra. now, the wind advisory that takes place later on tonight. it's pinpointing the north bay. we're going to see wind gusts of 45mph. now, when the rain does start, it's going to stall over the north bay. and this is why we have a flood watch that goes into effect tomorrow morning. very early, all the way through friday morning up to seven inches of rain expected. so here we are tomorrow at this time and already over a half an inch of rain in the santa rosa area. over a 10th in san rafael. but you're over here in ben lomond, san jose, livermore, concord. you're saying really? it's not that big of a deal. it will become a bigger deal after this system gets kicked out of the north bay. but it's going to take a while. look at your wednesday. nearly two inches of rain by tomorrow night. then we enter your thursday. look at napa. nearly 3.5in of rain. where's that water going to go? the terrain is very hard at this

point. this is a very early powerful storm for this season. and so really the ground is so hard. we're going to see the runoff now. right now we have air temperatures into the 50s. it's 51 degrees in santa rosa. but 60s and throughout the santa clara valley. the winds are slight, but these will be picking up in the overnight hours. if you have a lot of your christmas decorations outside already, make sure you go ahead and tie those down again. live weather camera looking out toward san francisco now where we see some overcast skies. atmospheric river rain. event. let's explain this for you. this is a big, beautiful area of low pressure, and it is going to cause the flooding rain, the wind in the north bay, while the rest of us are going to see on again, off again rain and your winter travel is going to be dicey if you're heading to the high sierra. this is it. it's a big, giant, beautiful comma. and this right here is the atmospheric river. notice how it trails off to the hawaiian islands. that's why it has a lot of subtropical moisture. this is the area of low pressure right

begun at samaritan house. there were long lines of cars filled with people who need a little extra help getting a thanksgiving meal on the table. >> i had faced hardship a year ago, and this definitely saved my situation. and i have 101 year old mother who's celebrating her birthday next week, so i couldn't get out of cooking. >> georgina matsui is preparing to cook for 32 people, and she says she just couldn't do that without the help of this food. it takes hundreds of donations and dozens of volunteers to make this happen. bill borden has been helping out here two times a week for ten years. >> you see the faces of the people that really appreciate the groceries they receive, and there's a lot of that. yeah, a lot of thank yous. sincere. so that's what it's about. >> they're expecting about 4000 clients to come through here this week. they say the issue is that the need is growing but donations are down. >> it's unfortunate distributions are struggling this year right. so this year we

have more demand 28% up versus last year. so the demand is growing. and we have a lot of new clients coming through. on average. we used to see about 50 clients new clients a month. we're seeing 50 new clients a week. >> but these men are trying to help bridge that gap. thank you. during the pandemic, dan britten was inspired to get a group together to fundraise, to buy turkeys. it's become a tradition and now he does it every year with his own nonprofit, the great heart foundation. >> this year, samaritan house said we needed between 180 and 200. i was like, oh man, but here's 200 turkeys. we got it done. >> they say with the economy right now, it was harder for them to fundraise. but knowing more people are in need just push them to donate more for us. >> i think we've had to reach to other avenues. we brought through our connections, through our, you know, our local schools and local fire departments and all of our connections. and it's forced us to work harder.

berta gonzalez here to talk all about it. roberta, you know, james, earlier you and i were talking about the temperatures, and right now it's awfully cold. >> but once the atmospheric river actually slices through, our temperatures are going to go up. but that's still a couple of days away. boy, it was a cold start to our day. hi, everybody. right now we're noticing increasing clouds. so we're kind of putting those cold temperatures behind us as we focus on what's to come. and this is one thing you need to take note of tonight. first things first. we do have a wind advisory going into effect. not for the entire area, but for the north bay with wind gusts up to 45mph. then, with the area of low pressure, the atmospheric river stalling over the north bay, we do have that flood watch that goes into effect by the time you wake up tomorrow morning and over about a 48 hour

period, we're talking seven inches of rain in the north bay. did you hear? seven inches of rain in the wettest locations of the north bay. 6 to 10in the highest elevations. where is all that water going to go? right now we have temperatures in the 50s. it's now 60 in fremont. these numbers, very little movement throughout the afternoon as the clouds continue to roll in and put a cap on things. the winds have not picked up as of yet, will be picking up overnight up to easily 20mph. so with the wind, it mixes up the atmosphere and it will not be as cold tonight as it was when you woke up this morning. so we have this area of low pressure. this right here is the bomb cyclone that is tapping into the atmospheric river. a lot of people say, what is a bomb cyclone? it's basically an intensifying area of low pressure. it's getting stronger. so therefore it will produce more rain, especially right there up against the pacific northwest. we will be the

recipient of the rain gradually across the entire area. it's going to stay stalled over the north bay most of your wednesday. we'll talk more about that in the tahoe forecast. james. that's still coming up. >> all right roberta, thank you. santa cruz county is one of the local communities getting ready for this week's heavy rain and wind. a series of powerful storms during the past several years has caused severe flooding and landslides in the santa cruz mountains. some county leaders say they have learned the federal government is often slow, providing financial help for storm repairs. >> the biggest challenge is fema. they're very slow with their processing and their approvals. the 23 disasters. we're still in the process of getting needed approvals, and that's we're almost two years out now. you know, with this, this coming winter. >> county leaders say some of the mountain roadways are still damaged from storms dating back to 2017. others have washed out during storms of the past couple winters. that includes some of the main roads that connect communities to highway 17.

>> can't use the road right now, right? it's totally severed. and so should they need to either evacuate due to some type of a natural disaster or a wildland fire or something like that. they're you know, their options are limited. >> the county is now stressing the importance of finding new funding options to keep up with the increasing demands for repairs. new details now from san jose about a police shooting that left one person in critical condition. officers say they responded to reports of a man acting violently sunday night toward his family after slashing a relative's arm. police officers went to the home and say a man identified as 44 year old heraclio mejia, was armed with a knife. officers opened fire when they say mejia started moving toward them. >> it's clear to me the lives of this brave survivor and her children were all in grave danger last night. a suspect with a history of violence did not hesitate to assault his wife and stab a family member. he

certainly could have inflicted more harm if not for these officers who responded to their call for help. >> that man barricaded himself inside a room but was eventually taken into custody. police say he's in critical but stable condition and still recovering at the hospital. we won't know until next month at the earliest if the menendez brothers will be resentenced for killing their parents. while the last l.a. county district attorney recommended the sentencing. the decision is now up to the newly elected da, nathan hoffman. hoffman will be sworn in december second. the resentencing hearing is set for december 11th. that case was reopened after new evidence supported the brothers claim their parents abused them. authorities in sonoma county say one person has died. four others were hurt in the latest deadly boating accident near bodega bay. it happened yesterday afternoon near salmon creek state beach. five people were found in the water shortly after the boat capsized. one of the passengers died despite a massive rescue effort. this was the third deadly boating

accident near bodega bay in the month of november. >> when you get these accidents, especially three in such a short period, especially when people don't survive, it definitely takes a toll on you. it's very, very difficult, especially when younger folks are involved. >> the investigation continues into the cause of this latest boating tragedy. last weekend was a busy one for water rescues, the coast guard reporting it pulled 16 people from the water in five separate rescues. all were in the bay area and in monterey on friday, three people were rescued from san pablo bay from a boat that ran aground on saturday. the monterey coast guard rescued a diver. then on sunday, five people were rescued near keyhole beach when their boat became disabled. also sunday, three people were rescued near point reyes from a disabled boat. police in santa rosa are now giving us new information about a crash that killed a postal worker. investigators say the postal workers truck was hit by a driver as they were delivering mail. the driver might have been

in the middle of a medical emergency. it happened not far from the amy's kitchen facility in santa rosa. witnesses say the suv was speeding before the impact. sunnyvale police union sounding the alarm about rising crime in the area. the group releasing state data showing violent crime is up nearly 60% over the last ten years. lamonica peters has more. >> it is a concern, but i don't know. i guess i'm in a little bubble in sunnyvale that i felt safe. >> joanne callahan says she's lived in sunnyvale for about 20 years and considers it a safe place to live. new state data released by the sunnyvale public safety officers association shows a 59% increase of violent crime over the last decade, although she still feels safe. callahan says she is more concerned about the elderly. >> i have parents that are older. my mom lives in the area, so i think about that just like, gosh, i hope she's paying attention and just talking to her about that to be more aware.

>> from 2022 to 2023, the data shows that violent crime in sunnyvale rose by 15.6%, which includes rapes, robbery and aggravated assaults. back in june, police say about 20 people ran into pag jewelers, smashing display cases and escaping with hands full of jewelry in a matter of minutes. in response to the latest crime data, the city of sunnyvale released a statement saying in part, we monitor crime rates very closely and see that we are in line with an increase in violent crimes regionally. in addition to coordinating with our neighboring law enforcement agencies on solutions to these regional trends like smash and grab robberies, we've added resources to address our public safety needs. >> we just need to look at it. that's what the city said they would do. >> the crime data also says rape cases increase by about 45%, and aggravated assault by 76% over the last ten years. sunnyvale says it's added new public safety officer positions to this year's budget, and is now using

many testified he stabbed lee entirely in self-defense. the jury turned in dozens of questions to the judge, one asking if, quote, if in fact, lee attacked you with a knife, why didn't you call police? well, many testified that lee walked away after the confrontation and they had no idea lee had been stabbed. >> whether they believe me or not is certainly up to them. they have to think. did he tell us the truth? did this make sense? and once he reasonable in his testimony, the defense called retired san francisco police inspector steve amato to the stand as a paid witness.

>> palmetto said he thought it was a reasonable explanation that lee came at me with a knife. and while many grabbed lee's wrist, which led to lee getting stabbed in the hip, he said a further struggle led to lee getting stabbed in the heart and in the chest. the head of fema getting tough questions on capitol hill today over allegations that disaster aid has become politicized. it comes after hurricanes helene and milton devastated parts of florida, georgia and north carolina, and the agency confirming a now fired employee ordered relief workers to avoid houses with trump signs. fox's rebecca castor has the details on the high stakes hearings from washington. >> this has been a challenging time for our workforce of over 22,000 dedicated, hard working people. >> fema administrator deanne criswell out to defend her agency tuesday, sitting for two hearings on capitol hill. lawmakers are questioning her on the agency's response to hurricanes helene and milton, and whether aid workers avoided

helping trump supporters in hard hit areas. >> as congress, it's our job to conduct rigorous oversight and ensure that fema is held accountable and improves upon their processes. >> the outrage stems from this text message sent by a fema supervisor to relief workers canvasing in florida implement best practices, avoid homes advertising trump the now fired employee says the guidance came from higher ups. this was the culture they were already avoiding. >> these homes based on community trends from hostile political encounters. it has nothing to do with the campaign sign. it just so happened to be part of the community trend. >> criswell says several fema workers were threatened in the aftermath of hurricane helene, following claims by president elect donald trump that the agency was hindering recovery. but criswell insists fema helps all americans, regardless of political affiliation. >> i am committed to ensuring that nothing like this ever happens again.

>> criswell, though, is likely on her way out the door. it's expected president elect trump will appoint a new fema administrator, but he's yet to announce his pick. in washington, rebecca castor, ktvu, fox two news. >> and now back to that new e coli outbreak linked to organic carrots. fox's jared halperin has more. >> another e coli outbreak is sweeping the country, and this time it's linked to organic carrots. california based grimmway farms, recalling multiple sizes and brands of its whole and baby carrots. because of possible contamination. the cdc reports more than three dozen people in at least 18 states have become sick. at least one death has been linked to the recall. the agency says the products are no longer in stores, but could be in consumer refrigerators or freezers. >> it's a good idea to clean that area of your refrigerator really well. 50 bacterium are enough to make you sick, and 100,000 of them would fit on the head of a pin. so it's not stuff you can see, taste, or smell.

as tonight. >> yes, absolutely. in the far reaches of the north bay, james. and with the rain, the wind will be increasing as well. hi, everybody. let's step on outside because we started off cold and clear and now with increasing cloud cover, these clouds are really high. overcast conditions in some neck of the woods now 20 and 25,000ft elevation are these clouds. but as the clouds thicken and around the bay area, they act like a blanket, so will not be as cold tonight as it was when you woke up this morning. first things first. wind advisory goes into effect at 10:00 tonight for the north bay. southerly winds up to 30. gusts up to 45mph. a flood watch in effect for the north bay. anything north of the golden gate bridge. when you wake up tomorrow, it will be raining pretty heavily in the north bay and other places just south of the golden gate bridge. it will be dry. temperatures are currently in the 50s. it is now 62 degrees in san jose and with

increasing cloud cover, it's not going to get much warmer than that today. so unseasonably cool here in the bay area. the winds are under ten miles per hour, will be increasing to 20 across the surface from the coast all the way into our inland areas and the overnight hours. so let's explain this. this is an atmospheric river rain event. and you ask why? well, first things first. let me tell you, the rain is going to be targeting the north bay with the rain and the wind. the central portions of our bay area and the santa clara valley on again and off again, wind and rain. and that does include the east bay. and if you're traveling to the sierra nevada area, best days to travel is now through thursday gets a little dicey on friday and saturday. don't even count on it sunday and monday. so this is the leading edge of that big, beautiful comma there. and this right here is the atmospheric river. you see, that is tapping into some tropical moisture. and then it's colliding with that right there. look at how big and beautiful that center, that core of that area of low pressure is.

this is the bomb cyclone. and what that basically means is we're measuring the strength of it. and it's intensifying. and then that is tapping into the subtropical moisture. that's why it's a huge rain event for us here in the bay area. so when does it begin? overnight tonight. i got to tell you, mendocino county is going to be hammered about a foot of rain in some locations. and where is that water going to run off? meanwhile, look at napa at midnight tonight. and then throughout the morning hours and everybody in the north bay is seeing heavy amounts of rain by 10:00 tomorrow night, while the rest of us are saying, what rain? if any. just some light precipitation. here you go. thursday morning commute. same drill. everything north of the golden gate bridge. beginning to slide into the peninsula. then it lifts as it stalls again. the north bay, then the area of low pressure will slice across everybody. by friday. and friday is going to be a very messy, rainy, windy day for all of us. rainfall accumulations. there

wants to establish new rules for insurance companies doing business in california. his plan would dramatically expand the insurance options for homeowners and business owners in high wildfire risk areas. several big insurance companies are no longer writing policies in california because of that wildfire risk. bart is scheduled to install new platform lights at some stations north berkeley and el cerrito plaza are the latest to get an upgrade of brighter platform lights. bart posting this video to social media showing the brightness of the new lights set to help more commuters. as the days now get darker earlier. the transit agency says more light installations will be coming to other stations in the coming weeks. muni trying to crack down on fare evasion. the bay area transit agency says close to 20% of all riders do not pay to ride, and the past month, the number of inspections of valid tickets has doubled over the same time the previous year. according to the chronicle, muni issued 4500 citations last month. that's the highest monthly total since before the

lawrence livermore national lab created the computer, dubbed el capitan, with assistance from hewlett packard and santa clara based tech company amd. the lab says the machine can perform 1.742 quintillion calculations per second. a quintillion is 1,000,000,000 billion. the lab says the computer's power will advance nuclear weapons science, ensuring the safety and security of the u.s. nuclear stockpile without any nuclear testing. bay area preservationists now have another year to relocate a historic farmhouse. the way farmhouse represents the japanese american farming experience before and after world war two. it sits on one of san jose's last working orchard, but that 23 acre site is slated for development. preservationists are hoping to move the farmhouse to san jose history park. the developer, who had given a strict deadline for moving the house, will now allow them an extra year. history san jose. the group spearheading the
