SCA Assignment 1

This document discusses supply chain analytics and the evolution from Analytics 1.0 to Analytics 3.0. Analytics 1.0 used data warehouses and descriptive analysis of small, structured data. Analytics 2.0 leveraged big data from both internal and external sources using agile methods, machine learning, and NoSQL databases. Analytics 3.0 utilizes a hybrid data environment and couples in-database and in-memory analysis with agile methods and machine learning on both structured and unstructured big data. To capitalize on Analytics 3.0, companies must develop an analytics culture, invest in big data technology, and recruit and leverage analytical talent focused on business questions.

Analytics Officer (or equivalent role) to oversee the strategic deployment of analytics.
• Invest in the technology needed to manage big data and provide insights quickly.
• Recruit, retain and effectively leverage analytical talent. Insure that analytics groups are aligned with the business
and focusing on critical business questions.
