1. Paulo Campos

Dr. Paulo Campos, a health scientist was born on July 27, 1921, he was distinguished for his effort on
Nuclear medicine. Dr. Campos authored/co-authored 75 scientific journal a few of which were awarding.
His researches include The Genetic Factor in Endemic Goiter won First Prizes in Research Award; Cr-51
Tagged Red Cell Studies and the Observation on some Parameter of Insulin Action. He also established
the first radioisotope laboratory and medical research laboratory at the UP College of Medicine; the first
thyroid clinic at the Philippine General Hospital; and the first comprehensive community health program
in the country. 2. Angel Alcala

• Field of Specialization: Biological Sciences

• Education:

o M.A. (Biological Sciences), Stanford University, 1960

o Ph.D. (Biological Sciences}, Stanford University, 1966

Dr. Angel Alcala was born on March 1, 1929. His scientific and technological works on marine reserves
and conservation of biodiversity have been nationally and internationally recognized. His pioneering
concept and management strategy referred to as marine reserve for coral reefs and reef fisheries
conservation have resulted in the protection of marine biodiversity in the Philippines. He is also known in
the field of biological science, specifically on herpetology. 3. Ricardo Sigua

• Field of Specialization: Transportation Engineering

• Education:

Dr. Ricardo Sigua is known in the field of transportation, making it recognizable in the research of Road
Safety, Traffic Flow Analysis, Traffic Signal Control, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Highway

and Intersection Design, Environmentally Sustainable Transportation, and Traffic Simulation

4. Maria Ligaya Braganza

Dr. Maria Ligaya Braganza is the Program Chair at the Philippine Women’s University specifically in the
field of Food Science and Technology, which specialized in the globalized food industry. Making students
well equipped responsive to the needs and demands of the food industries. 5. Baldomero Olivera

• Field of Specialization Biochemistry

• Date of Birth 29 July 1941

• Education:

Baldomero Olivera was born on 29th of July, 1941. His accomplishments in the field of biochemistry and
molecular biology, specifically the discoveries of numerous Conus peptides which are now in various
phases of clinical trials as highly specific drugs of pain, epilepsy, and other disorders of the nervous
system made it construe in classification of the neuroactive Conus peptides.
