Steps in Proper Cleaning of the Ears
1. Consult an audiologist to remove wax in the ears. Experts know what techniques to use on
removing wax in the ear without any pain.
2. Use a clean damp cloth in cleaning the outside of the ear. However, avoid dripping much
water in the ear for this may also cause pain and discomfort later on.
3. Do not use cotton buds on cleaning the ear canal. This doesn't properly remove the wax but
rather pushes the wax to the inner ear.
4. Try an earwax softener. Dried earwax inside the ear is painful to remove, apply softener to
make the wax removal easier.
5. Flush your ears. In doing this use a rubber bulb syringe to irrigate it, this helps if your ears are
in pain and blockage.
The discourse above is clearly an exposition for it will inform the readers of the proper ways and
steps of cleaning the ears, which is actually not a topic that everyone talks about. Moreover, my
example also gives out instructions that matters in connection to the subject.
ARGUMENTATION DISCOURSE
Korean Inclusion: Not a necessity!
Aside from the statement if the 1987 Philippine Constitution, Article XIV, Section 6; the
national language of the Philippines is Filipino, there are other issues that make the Korean
Inclusion in the current education curriculum not beneficial and unnecessary. Since funding is
also needed in making this inclusion possible, budget will be released probably, well in fact there
is still a need of 113,995 classrooms and 81,000 teachers, updated data shows, in connection to
the implementation of the K-to-12 Program. This existing problem should not again be heavied
by another responsibility, compromising quality education for the "linguistically and culturally
diverse global workplace," as defined by Department of Education.
My example could be categorized as an argumentative discourse, for my purpose is to
persuade the readers to accept my point in consideration to the evidences I have presented, which
in this case is existing law and statistical data.
NARRATION DISCOURSE
Delight from an Old Choice
My journey as a student journalist in my previous school was not easy but it was a lot of
fun. All the experiences for four years started with the decision I made during the day of the
enrollment. To be enrolled in a special class was my choice from the very beginning because a
friend of mine who came from the same class motivated me to. I spent my freshmen to junior
years as a school publication staffwriter and then on my last year I became a managing editor,
which was a tough job, because articles were all over the place. Even though being a student
journo brought me to more responsibilities, I never regretted the choice I made on the enrollment
day.
The example above is a narration discourse for I am just clearly doing the storytelling. I
have presented, in first person point of view, through this discourse my experiences as a student
journo in a chronological order, following the linear structure-- beginning, middle and end.
DESCRIPTION DISCOURSE
A Corridor to Remember
I have never been a believer of ghosts, or spirits, or any supernatural creatures, until the
very day I saw one. I can't even name what I saw for I have no idea what that creature is called.
But I'm very much sure that one chilly and silent night, in the dark corridors of the Gabaldon
Building of Leyte High I saw a grim figure, it's dark but sharp and curved horns were clear in
shape, its ears were long and pointed, its arms and legs were covered with so much hair, the
raging red eyes were luminous in the dark, but something that made me run was the bloody knife
this creature was carrying that night.
Through describing the physical features of creature found obly in my imagination, I
have come up with a description discourse. My discourse is limited on my own impressions,
trying to portray to my readers the fruit of my fiction.
