workdir.dev provides a capacity-limited demo of ephemeral Linux microVMs over an API. New accounts get $0.50 in demo credits, metered per second while sandboxes run. The software is open source (AGPL-3.0); self-hosting is the production path.
No illegal content or activity, no attacking third parties (DDoS, unauthorized scanning, credential stuffing), no crypto mining, no spam infrastructure, no attempting to escape the sandbox or access other tenants. We suspend first and ask questions second when abuse puts the fleet or other customers at risk.
Sandboxes are ephemeral: their disks are destroyed at delete. You own what you run and its outputs. We never train on, sell, or inspect your workloads except as needed to operate the service or as required by law.
Credits are prepaid. One-time top-ups are processed by Stripe and added to your account after Stripe confirms payment. The metered quote is attached to every create response.
The service is provided as-is, without warranty. It runs on a small public demo fleet and is not for production workloads. Run your own server if you need guarantees we can't make — we'll help you do it.
You can leave any time; your keys revoke instantly and remaining sandboxes are destroyed. We may update these terms with 14 days' notice to your account email.
