Just a proud dad moment. Tonight I let my 4 year old son sit on my lap in front of a terminal. I told him what keys to press, amd he wat he'd the computer do what he told it to do.
He started irb, and wrote his first "Hello world". We worked with numbers, how to make letters = numbers (setting variables) and then started counting binary. I would key in the nibbles, 0000, 0001, 0010, etc. And he would key in the correct decimal. Ive worked with him on 0 to 5 on our fingers since he was 2, but Tonight he went all the way to 9 with me.
I also fired up tk, and let him type in the title and ran it.
Sometimes the best thing you can do isnt trying to figure out the next big thing, its teaching the next big thing how to create the future next big thing.
Im writing this to embed his achievements here for the world to see.
