MapServer 2025 Budget
The maximum OSGeo project budget for 2024 was set at $2,500 USD - see here, in previous years the maximum budget was $5000. This budget assumes the latter, but may need to be revised or topped-up with funds from sponsorship.

MapServer has a number of sponsorship opportunities listed at MapServer Sponsorship Opportunities.
The OSGeo budget is only provides a contribution towards the full cost of the above activities. In addition to funding from OSGeo, the MapServer PSC actively tries to raise funds from other sources, examples of which are shown below:
- In 2024 an application was made to https://nlnet.nl/bluehatsprize/2024/ (unfortunately without a successful response)
- In January 2025, a proposal for a grant application was sent to NLnet Foundation (https://nlnet.nl). We should know if this has been successful or not in early February 2025.
- The mapserver-users group was emailed with a request for sponsorship and a link to the MapServer Sponsorship Opportunities page.
The OSGeo Board approved an amount of $2000 - see https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/OSGeo_Budget_2025#OSGeo_Projects. Only 2 of the original items budgeted for were completed in 2025. Amounts in brackets show the original amounts reduced by 20% to fit within the budget.
