Aunt Arctic is a character in Club Penguin, who answers questions regularly as an advice columnist in the "Ask Aunt Arctic" section in the Club Penguin Times newspaper; since April 2008, she has also been the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper as well. She regularly conducts interviews to keep newspaper readers up to date on current events on the island.
Character[]
Design[]
Aunt Arctic is a green penguin who wears a Pink Toque that was designed for her.[2] She also wears large cat eye reading glasses that help her see close-up[3], with a pencil tucked on the side of them; she never leaves home without her toque and pencil.[4] She has a few freckles on either side of her eyes and beak. Aunt Arctic is "left-flippered" (left-handed).[5]
In 2013, Aunt Arctic started to wear a pink V-neck sweater vest with a white button-up shirt with short sleeves underneath. She previously briefly appeared with this design when seen revealing her identity as the Director of the EPF at the end of Operation: Blackout, albeit with her Director coat on top of her sweater.
"Aunt Arctic" is seemingly not her original/real name; she states she chose the name when she started writing for the Club Penguin Times, liking how it sounds similar to "Antarctic" and believing the name makes her sound approachable, helpful, and caring.[6]
Personality[]
Aunt Arctic has been portrayed as kind, helpful, and genuine. She likes when penguins work together, and does not like when penguins tease others.[7] From early on, she vowed to always be respectful to those she interacted with.[8] She advocates staying safe and keeping personal information private.[9] During the Marvel Super Hero Takeover 2012, Aunt Arctic answers questions from Super Villains and robbers, and she stands firm despite their unseemly questions, encouraging them to change their ways and believes good will always triumph.[10][11]
She has a love for researching history and discovering secrets.[7] When answering questions in her Ask Aunt Arctic column, she frequently investigates the topic herself, or consults someone knowledgeable in the subject if she does not know.
Aunt Arctic's favorite thing to do is writing for the Club Penguin Times, as she loves writing and researching, and enjoys reporting as she gets to meet many penguins, which has allowed her to make many friends.[12] She enjoys jokes, and good ones always make her laugh.[13] She often speaks highly of all the creative submissions she receives in the newspaper, from the artwork to the letters.
Aunt Arctic has a very busy schedule and cannot attend parties to socialize (appear as a meetable mascot) except on rare occasions; when she does attend a party, it is almost always to interview other penguins, but she enjoys celebrating with others and makes time when she can.[14] Aunt Arctic states during the Halloween Party 2015 that the only thing that scares her is bad spelling.
Aunt Arctic is sometimes portrayed with British traits. In addition to enjoying tea and scones, she speaks in a British accent when voiced, such as the Operation: Blackout ending cutscene. For the Penguin Cup, the term soccer is used, but when asked about this, Aunt Arctic states that the sport is known to her and the asker ("U. R. English") as football.[15]
While appearing as a meetable mascot, Aunt Arctic likes asking others questions to get their thoughts on current parties and as if interviewing. She also likes sharing trivia, historical facts about Club Penguin, and quizzing by describing a character, room, or something else, and asking to guess who or whatever she is describing. Since the reveal she is the leader of the Elite Penguin Force, she deflects questions about the EPF and acts like being a director would be "too many jobs".
Development[]
Club Penguin artists, at least in the earlier years, always tried to draw Aunt Arctic in "new and interesting" poses since she appeared so often in the newspaper.[16]
History[]
Pre-debut[]
Aunt Arctic "grew up in the city".[17] When she first stepped on Club Penguin, she was the color pink, but after trying on the color green, she never changed back.[18] Prior to her debut, she attended the Halloween Party 2005[19] and the Winter Luau.[20]
2006[]
The first Ask Aunt Arctic question
Aunt Arctic first appeared in issue 32 of The Penguin Times newspaper, published on May 25, 2006, in a new advice column section named Ask Aunt Arctic. She is introduced as "no one's mom and everyone's favorite aunt. She's Aunt Arctic - superb penguin advice giver." In her debut, she answers a question from a player named "MissGreen" about giving postcards. Initially she did not have a camera, so the Ask Aunt Arctic section did not contain any images for several issues.[21]
Throughout the year she continued to answer questions she received from player submissions to the newspaper; she received thousands per week.[22]
Case of the Missing Puffles[]
In August 2006, two of Aunt Arctic's five puffles, one green and one purple, goes missing, leading to the first secret mission, Case of the Missing Puffles. While out reporting and taking pictures, two of her puffles, hid in her camera bag, and escaped unnoticed along with the camera when she was heading home. She explains the situation to the player in her igloo. While Aunt Arctic continues to worry, her missing puffles are eventually found by the player at the top of the Tallest Mountain, where the purple one had been taking pictures with Aunt Arctic's camera. She is appreciative not only of the help in finding her puffles, but the help that the player gives to other penguins during the mission. This was also the first appearance of a purple puffle, meaning Aunt Arctic had one before they could be adopted at the Pet Shop.
Rockhopper return & 1st anniversary[]
In October, following Rockhopper's first return to Club Penguin after leaving in March 2005, Aunt Arctic interviews him.[23] Later, following 1st Anniversary Party, she decides to do a review of the past year. In her opinion, the party of the year was the Summer Party, the clothing item of the year was the Red Propeller Cap, the igloo of the year was the Gym, the furniture of the year was the Grandfather Clock, the game of the year was Mancala, the pin of the year was the Pencil, the room of the year was a tie between the Pizza Parlor and Lighthouse, and the puffle color of the year was blue.[24]
2007[]
At the end of March, The Penguin Times announces that Aunt Arctic will host Easter Egg hunt, figuring that since penguins love searching for hidden things and secrets, Easter would be a perfect opportunity for her to hide eggs for penguins to find.[25] The hunt was held the following weekend.
In late June, when Rockhopper is about to set off at the end of his recent trip, Aunt Arctic visits him and gives him a camera to use.[26]
On September 13, The Penguin Times celebrates its 100th issue, and is renamed to the Club Penguin Times. Aunt Arctic celebrates by listing some of her favorite memories from the newspaper, such as the writing, igloo, and snow sculpture contests, polls to choose a new color and new name for Ballistic Biscuit, as well as a pirate ship puzzle from before the Pirate Party.
2008[]
Promotion to Editor in Chief[]
Aunt Arctic's promotion
At the beginning of April, it is announced that Aunt Arctic was promoted to the Club Penguin Times' Editor in Chief, overseeing the whole newspaper, while also still hosting the Ask Aunt Arctic section as usual. To start, she plans to introduce new sections to the newspaper, but rather than be written by her, she plans to publish story submissions written by others.[27] These are later revealed to be tips, as well as a "Reviewed by You" section. Each week, a topic was shown in the "submit your content" page at the end of the newspaper, and players could submit a small story about this topic to be published in the following week's issue.[28]
In August, Aunt Arctic gives a tour of the Plaza in the "In Focus" section.[29] Soon after, the Club Penguin Times celebrates its 150th issue, and Aunt Arctic shares a message, noting that although the newspaper has grown over the years, its spirit remains unchanged. She offers thanks to readers and expresses that the newspaper will continue bringing important news.[30]
3rd Anniversary[]
Aunt Arctic shares words of reflection on Club Penguin's third year, including Coins for Change and saving the Migrator, and offers thanks on behalf of the Club Penguin Times.[31] Later, she and Rockhopper judge the Halloween Decorating Contest.[32][33]
Reporting on Robots[]
Aunt Arctic makes occasional appearances in the Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force video game.
Aunt Arctic is the first character the player encounters upon starting the game. She suggests the player head to the Coffee Shop to read the latest issue of the Club Penguin Times. A while later, when the Elite Puffle Flare is feeling sad, the player talks to her in the Town and she gives them a postcard, which she figures would make a puffle feel better. She gladly signs it as well, along with a few other penguins.
When Gary's rogue Test Robots are spotted in Robotomy 101 and Robots on the Run, she is interested in reporting on them, but is kept away from the scene by Elite Penguin Force agents. In the side mission The Wrong Orders, Aunt Arctic is one of the penguins who had their pizza order mixed up. She ordered a dessert pizza but received a hot sauce one, but the player is able to give her the correct order.
In early April, Aunt Arctic hosts a Spring Scavenger Hunt sponsored by the Club Penguin Times. They player can search the island for flowers and give them to her for coin rewards. Around Halloween time, Aunt Arctic and other characters dress up in the Night Club and play a game with the player, challenging them to find out who is who with hints.
2009[]
At the beginning of the year, Aunt Arctic and Rory judge the Christmas Igloo Contest.[34] For New Year's, Aunt Arctic resolves to take good care of her puffles, keep in touch with friends by sending postcards, answer as many questions as she can in her column, and possibly take a holiday.[35] This would end up being the first of several of Aunt Arctic's New Year's resolutions.
Penguin Play Awards[]
Aunt Arctic interviewing at the awards
After the Penguin Play Awards 2009 are announced in March, Aunt Arctic is asked why she does not meet up with penguins. She explains that she does not have enough time with all her work on the newspaper, but expresses interest in finally doing so at the awards.[36] During the Penguin Play Awards, Aunt Arctic appears as a meetable mascot for the first time. She also interviews some penguins pretending to be characters from the Stage plays featured at the awards, including Squidzoid, Twee, and Jacques Hammer.[37]
Giving thanks[]
On August 13, the Club Penguin Times celebrates its 200th issue. Aunt Arctic reflects on the changes of the years and offers her thanks not only to all the readers, but to everyone who has submitted their work to the newspaper.[38] She later shares a words of thanks to the community for Club Penguin's 4th anniversary, amazed by all the stories she hears all over the island.[39] During Rockhopper's visit to the island in December, he meets with many penguins that impress him with different ways they are spending their time to make a change for Coins for Change. He also invites Aunt Arctic to join in the festivities as well, to which she considers, having been inspired by everyone.[40]
Aunt Arctic is a meetable mascot during the Holiday Party 2009, as she has "a couple days off". She helps deliver presents from Santa's Sleigh.[41] She also judges the winners of the Holiday Igloo Decorating Contest along with Rockhopper.[42][43] After the party ends, Aunt Arctic and Rockhopper share thanks for all penguins for making the holidays wonderful.[44] Like at the beginning of the year, for New Year's, Aunt Arctic resolves to continue last year's resolutions, as well as keep fit and try new things.[45]
2010[]
Late in February, Aunt Arctic hosts an "In Focus" tour of the Plaza, like she did in August 2008.[46] Aunt Arctic is meetable at the Penguin Play Awards 2010. On July 29, the Club Penguin Times celebrates its 250th issue. Aunt Arctic shares words of thanks and some trivia about the newspaper. She also says to "keep an eye out for big changes in the future".[47] During Halloween, Aunt Arctic and Gary judge the Halloween Igloo Contest.[48][49]
Aunt Arctic explaining newspaper changes
In issue 265 of the Club Penguin Times, Aunt Arctic announces the newspaper will have a new design as of November 19, which she and her reporters had been thinking about for "some time". She reveals the major changes: the newspaper will be printed on a long two-sided paper rather than several pages, there will be a "news flash" section, and new issues will be published on Fridays instead of Thursdays, to give reporters more time collecting stories.[50] The new design was also intended to feature the most useful info and also be easier to read quickly.[51]
During the Holiday Party 2010, Aunt Arctic and Rockhopper judge the Holiday Igloo Contest.[52][53] At the end of the year, Aunt Arctic reflects on 2010, finding the Mountain Expedition to be her favorite part, as she found it fun and a strange cave piqued her interest. She also resolves for the new year to earn as many stamps as she can, starting with puffle related ones.[54]
2011[]
In April, Aunt Arctic judges the St. Patrick's Igloo Contest with Rookie.[55][56] During the Earth Day 2011 [arty, Aunt Arctic helped design the new animal costumes, remarking Earth Day is another chance to make a difference, just like Coins for Change.[57]
Aunt Arctic is a meetable mascot during the 6th Anniversary Party, appearing because she wants to report on everything going on at the Coffee Shop.[58] During Halloween, Aunt Arctic and Gary judge the Halloween Igloo Contest again.[59] In November, Aunt Arctic goes on vacation from the newspaper to train in Card-Jitsu, and Sensei answers questions in her stead. Although she is unable to earn a Black Ninja Belt as planned, she still regards it as a valuable experience.[60]
During the Holiday Party 2011 in December, Aunt Arctic appears as a meetable mascot alongside Rockhopper. When asked what gift she wants for the holidays, she exclaims that she wants many more penguins on her Friends List, finding meeting new friends to be the gift she wants most. She also considers buying herself a Tundra Board as a treat. She also intends to relax after Coins for Change ends.[61] At the end of the year, Aunt Arctic reflects on 2011, noting her favorite part of the year to be everything relating to puffles, including the discovery of brown puffles, upgrades to the Pet Shop, new Puffle Hats, and new games. Aunt Arctic also looks back at her stamp-earning resolution for the past year, and notes she earned over a hundred stamps. For 2012 she resolves to learn the best ways to decorate her igloo.[62] Aunt Arctic and Rockhopper also judge the Holiday Igloo Contest.[63]
2012[]
Earth Day[]

In early April, Aunt Arctic announces the upcoming Earth Day 2012 party. She mentions that due to all the donations to Coins for Change a few months prior, even more animal costumes will be available.[64][65] Around this time, following April Fools', Aunt Arctic and Rookie judge the Craaaziest Igloo Contest Ever.[66] When the Earth Day Party starts, Aunt Arctic appears as a meetable mascot. She also thanks everyone for contributing to Earth Day on behalf of the Club Penguin Times and all animals.[67]
Super Hero Takeover[]
At the end of May, Aunt Arctic expresses a desire on behalf of the Club Penguin Times team to get a new, more spacious office soon.[68] Around the same time, a purple Meteor is spotted falling towards Club Penguin at high speed.[69] When the Meteor, emitting a strange energy, lands, the Club Penguin Times receives a threat from the newly-revived Ultimate Protobot 10000 of Super Villains planning to take over the island; Aunt Arctic sends out a call to aid for Super Heroes.[70]
On June 14, during the Marvel Super Hero Takeover 2012, Super Villains begin a takeover of the island with the Destructobot, led by Protobot. Aunt Arctic, in addition to appearing as a meetable mascot, uses the press as a way to rally for the forces of good, advocating for Super Heroes and the Club Penguin Police Department to save the island. She encourages anyone interested in becoming a Super Hero to head to the Gift Shop to buy a costume and super gloves, and to "tell them Aunt Arctic sent you".[71] During the takeover, the back side of Club Penguin Times is written by Protobot, except for the Ask Aunt Arctic section, where Aunt Arctic answers questions from villains, standing firm against their threats. Although Aunt Arctic is unsure of who Protobot is, she learns about him from interviewing an anonymous agent, who warns her of his danger and advises to not use a rubber ducky against him.[72] As the takeover continues, Aunt Arctic continues to report on the heroic feats around the island from not only heroes but citizens as well.[73][74][75]
In early July, during a massive attack by Super Villains, the Meteor suddenly loses all its energy and fades away, causing the Destructobot to power down. The Super Heroes handily take action and defeat the villains, ending the takeover; Aunt Arctic expresses she is very proud of all heroes for protecting the island.[76] Meanwhile, Protobot vanishes without a trace, and while the public is unsure what happened to him, Aunt Arctic hears the EPF is searching for him and wishes them luck.[77] Additionally, as Aunt Arctic had hoped for a new office several weeks prior, this ended up happening, as the Book Room's office design from the Marvel Super Hero Takeover 2012 becomes permanent, and is since treated as the Club Penguin Times' office.
Later appearances & reveal as the Director[]
In late August, Aunt Arctic judges the Tropical Igloo Contest with Rockhopper.[78]
During Operation: Blackout, Herbert P. Bear takes control of the island with his Solar Laser, stealing sunlight from all over, shrouding the island in darkness, and aims to take revenge on the EPF by capturing and freezing their agents in Freezer Pods. Herbert is eventually able to figure out Aunt Arctic's long-kept secret: she is the Director, the leader of the Elite Penguin Force, and capture her. However, the player is able to infiltrate Herbert's Fortress, shut down the Solar Laser, and free the captured agents, Aunt Arctic included. Upon being freed, Aunt Arctic emerges from the shadows and reveals herself to the player, Gary the Gadget Guy, Dot, Rookie, and Jet Pack Guy, believing them to be worthy of knowing her secret.[79]
Aunt Arctic after revealing her identity and ready to rebuild the EPF
As the year ends, Aunt Arctic and other mascots give thanks. Aunt Arctic gives thanks to everyone for making Club Penguin so fun and silly, and modestly mentions how she was helped out of a tight spot recently.[80]
2013[]
On the first day of the year, Aunt Arctic looks for details on what the next big thing coming to Club Penguin is: she encounters Gary who is inventing dinosaur repellant, Cadence who is planning something big, and PH who is examining strange feathers.[81] She reflects on her resolution from last year, unsure of how much better she got at decorating her igloo but proclaims to enjoy it more. For 2013, having gotten many questions about rumors lately, resolves to explore to find the answers.[82] Although not explicitly brought up, from this point onward, Aunt Arctic is depicted using a laptop instead of a typewriter.

In February, Aunt Arctic is invited as a special guest during the Hollywood Party that Cadence is throwing, to report on the event.[83] During the party, she enjoys watching penguins act on the movie sets, and meeting and interviewing at the Awards Show.[84]
Second Super Hero Takeover[]
In April, Power Crystals begin to emerge from the ground following seismic activity. These crystals are able to restore Protobot somehow, and he begins a takeover of the island during the Marvel Super Hero Takeover 2013. Aunt Arctic appears as a meetable mascot, and like the previous takeover, supports the side of good. She explains that a team of heroes have created special super gloves in order to defend Penguintropolis (the island, transformed into a city), encouraging the use of the gloves to stop villains. She also asks requests for penguins to step up as law enforcement and to repair damage done.[85] Power Crystals can be gathered in Super Hero Bounce to use to power the gloves. In the end, Super Heroes use their powers to stop Protobot and his robot army. The Power Crystals disappear, as does Protobot.[86]
Celebrations[]
On June 20, the Club Penguin Times celebrates its 400th issue, having skipped the past few milestones. Aunt Arctic lists off several things the newspaper has reported on over the past several years, and offers thanks to the dedicated readers as usual.[87]
In late October, Club Penguin's 8th Anniversary Party is held and Aunt Arctic appears as a meetable mascot. She invites everyone to attend and check out the new yearbook and the temporary museum in the Coffee Shop, with clothes on loan from Cadence's collection and jackhammers from throughout history, donated by Gary.[88][89]
During Operation: Puffle, puffles from all over the island are mind-controlled by Herbert to dig up coins. When his plans are thwarted and the puffles are saved, the question of what to do with all the coins Herbert acquired comes up. Aunt Arctic asks Rockhopper, and he suggests donating them to Coins for Change. Aunt Arctic then speaks to Gary about how to transport the coins from Herbert's lair, and he gets to work on a solution immediately[90] which ends up being to use trains. During the Holiday Party 2013, Aunt Arctic interviews Rockhopper, entertained by his absurd story about driving a train.[91] She also asks penguins about their resolutions for the new year and shares her own: she wants to listen to the readers more and investigate the stories they want to hear.[92]
2014[]
In March, The Muppets stop at Club Penguin on a world tour, and the Muppets World Tour is held. Aunt Arctic interviews Kermit the Frog. She asks him about how he is liking Club Penguin and what he looks for in a performer, and the two joke about how it "isn't easy being green".[93]
Penguin Cup[]
Aunt Arctic commentating at the CPSN
In early June, Aunt Arctic reveals that Club Penguin will be hosting its first ever Penguin Cup, a soccer tournament, in two weeks time.[94] Later, Aunt Arctic announces that the Club Penguin Sports Network (CPSN) will be covering the matches, and she will be joining as a sports reporter. She requests other reports help her cover the action.[95]
When the Penguin Cup begins, Aunt Arctic appears as a meetable mascot. Upon first logging in, she prompts the player to join one of the four teams competing: Sharks, Hot Sauce, Space Squids, and Fluffies. She also provides an update on each team's standing (total points earned by playing Shootouts) the first time the player logs in every odd numbered day until the winning team is crowned. As the cup approaches the finals, Aunt Arctic expresses how its anyone's game and that she is just happy to cover the tournament.[96] The Sharks win the Penguin Cup in the end by having the most total points. Aunt Arctic expresses her congratulations for the team and her thanks for everyone that helped at CPSN.[97]
Frozen, Anniversary, Merry Walrus[]
In August, the weather report shows an upcoming mix of hot and cold temperatures. Aunt Arctic notes she has friends from "far away" that would love a party themed around hot and cold, and thinks she will invite them.[98] Later Aunt Arctic mentions that she has received word back that the ones she invited from Arendelle, Elsa, Anna, and Olaf will indeed be visiting Club Penguin. She also relays that Elsa will be bringing winter magic with her and creating an Ice Palace.[99] Aunt Arctic mentions she will not be visiting during the Frozen Party due to her busy schedule of reporting and "Entering Past Files" on her computer.[100] During the Frozen Party, Aunt Arctic interviews Olaf about how he is liking Club Penguin.[101]
In late October, Club Penguin's 9th Anniversary Party is held and Aunt Arctic appears as a meetable mascot. She invites everyone to attend and look back on the past year with her.[102]
In December, Aunt Arctic discovers an old storybook in the Forest. Intrigued, she reads it immediately[103] and first learns of the Merry Walrus. She shares details she has read, including that he lives on a magical island and rides a sleigh pulled by six blue crystal puffles to deliver presents every December. He also has the power to inspire others to give as well; Aunt Arctic believes someone like him would be perfect to help with Coins for Change.[104] When Merry Walrus visits to host the Merry Walrus Party, Aunt Arctic interviews him; he states he is impressed by Club Penguin's residents working so hard to make a change.[105]
For the new year, Aunt Arctic resolves to catch up with old friends, especially those that have been on the island longer than her.[106]
2015[]
In January, during the Star Wars Rebels Takeover, the Club Penguin Times is taken over again, and renamed to the "Imperial Times". After the Imperials are driven off by the Rebels, Aunt Arctic states she was not too worried and expresses the strengths of the newspaper over the past nearly 10 years, and notes issue 500 will be published in a few months.[107] Around the same time Aunt Arctic interviews Cadence on her new single You've Got This. Cadence mentions the song is both a thank you to fans and a shout-out to other artists, and she also hints at a talent show coming up.[108]
Aunt Arctic celebrating 500 issues
In early April, following an incident where a fish cake was stolen from the Ski Lodge, Aunt Arctic interviews the elusive Sasquatch responsible, in what she describes as "what may be the most exclusive interview of [her] career". The Sasquatch, unaware of his own name, talks about how the Sasquatch grew up with puffles, received his Party Hat a long time ago from a penguin, and how he will fix the hole in the wall he made at the lodge.[109]
On May 21, the Club Penguin Times celebrates its 500th issue. Aunt Arctic, as usual, reflects on the history of the newspaper, from reporting on gold puffles to a Sasquatch, but is most proud of all the content submitted by readers. She invites everyone to join her to chat, appearing as a meetable mascot for the following week.[110]
Throughout June, likely as a tie-in to the release of EPF training missions (return of PSA Secret Missions), Aunt Arctic publishes stories of the Elite Penguin Force that the agency released to her. These cover three operations that Herbert was involved in: Hibernation, Blackout, and Hot Sauce, describing what Herbert did and how the EPF stopped him.[111][112][113] Soon after, Aunt Arctic appears as a meetable mascot again, a few days before and during the Festival of Snow 2015.
10th Anniversary & MascBots[]
In late August, Aunt Arctic announces that although Club Penguin's tenth anniversary is still several weeks away, she helping party planners and looking through old newspapers to find her favorite memories, and asks readers for suggestions on how the anniversary should be celebrated.[114] She later asks mascots, such as Rockhopper, Sensei, and PH for what they would like to say, and they all name rooms from various past parties.[115] During the Descendants Party, Aunt Arctic interviews Mal for "scholarly advice" about Auradon Prep. Mal talks about how other students are expressing themselves and recommends bringing a magic wand to class.[116]
During the 10th Anniversary Party, Aunt Arctic appears as one of many meetable mascots. One of the MascBots made by Gary is modeled after her and appears at the Dock to talk about the room. Aunt Arctic is particularly happy about the anniversary to the point she uses caps lock for once in the newspaper, loving all the memories on display during the party. She suggests picking up the new hat and reading the new yearbook.[117] She also recommends checking out the decorating rooms in chronological order from the party they are taken from, such as starting with the Christmas Party 2005 (Ice Rink), then the Sports Party (Ski Hill), etc.[118]
Later during the Anniversary Party, the MascBots all start to malfunction, and by the time the Halloween Party 2015 begins, they go haywire and cause mischief. Gary comes up with a solution to stop them: scare them with things the penguins they are modeled after are scared of, and then deactivate them. Aunt Arctic confesses her only fear is bad spelling. Finding some and bringing it to the Aunt Arctic Bot allows it to be scared and deactivated.
At the end of the year, Aunt Arctic asks many penguins about their favorite moment of 2015. She says her own favorite moment was the 10th Anniversary Party, celebrating it with everyone.[119]
2016[]
During the Wilderness Expedition 2016 in April, when first logging in, Aunt Arctic prompts trying to find the Sasquatch Village, the Sasquatch's old home. After the expedition ends, Aunt Arctic interviews the Sasquatch, who has discovered his name is Sam. He talks about how thrilled he is to have found his home, name, and learn about sasquatch culture.[120] During the following Zootopia Party, Aunt Arctic appears as a meetable mascot; she also interviews Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde with questions from other penguins.[121]
During the 11th Anniversary Party, Aunt Arctic appears as a meetable mascot. She mentions that this is not just a celebration of Club Penguin, but the Club Penguin community, talking about how the whole community makes the island safe and fun and supports important causes, excited to see what comes next.[122] During the Holiday Party 2016, Aunt Arctic interviews Rockhopper who has made his way back; he talks about how much treasure he found on his adventures, and while Aunt Arctic is skeptical about these claims, she agrees when Rockhopper declares whats important is donating to Coins for Change.[123]
2017[]
Aunt Arctic looking at a map of Club Penguin Island
During the Club Penguin Island Party in January, Aunt Arctic appears as a meetable mascot. After news of an island called Club Penguin Island arrives, penguins are eager to learn more, and info booths are set up around Club Penguin.[124] When first logging in, Aunt Arctic asks penguins to be reporters and visit the info booths in various rooms to learn about Club Penguin Island.
During the Waddle On Party, the final party in Club Penguin, Aunt Arctic appears as a meetable mascot. She feels the party is bittersweet but thinks it is a good way to celebrate the past eleven years. She also writes all the trivia questions that appear in several rooms, and looks forward to hearing stories from the whole community, along with many other mascots.[125] During the last week of the party, the final issue of the Club Penguin Times, issue 566, is published. In addition to answering her final questions, "What is the EPF?" and "What do you know about Club Penguin Island?", Aunt Arctic shares final words. She talks about how she has been unable to stop smiling while thinking back, and reflects on the very first issue of the newspaper, along with how penguins always make the island better for each other, how fun the parties have been, and how everyone is so welcoming to others with even small gestures of kindness. She is certain that no matter where everyone ends up, they will continue to be amazing and supportive. "Thank you. By far, you are indeed the best story any newspaper editor could ever hope for."[126]

Book appearances[]
Pick Your Path series[]
In the Pick Your Path books, the reader is presented as being a character within each story as the protagonist. As such, "you" is used here to refer to the character representing the reader, as is done in the books. Due to the nature of these books, there are many branching paths, with many mutually-exclusive story possibilities; not all are listed here.
- The Inventor's Apprentice: According to Gary, Aunt Arctic is the one who gave him the idea to find an apprentice. In one of the paths, you find Aunt Arctic to ask her for advice on how to unfreeze Gary after you accidentally freeze him.
- Dancing with Cadence: Aunt Arctic is one of the judges for Cadence's contest to decide who will join her during her concert on the Night Club Rooftop. In one path, you and your friend pass the first round of auditions and Aunt Arctic suggests learning more difficult moves for the next round. In another path, when the auditions are temporarily canceled, Cadence contacts her to publish an article announcing the Keeper of the Boiler Room went missing.
- Before Card-Jitsu: The Ninja Quest: In one of the paths, you and your friend Amy decide to explore the mountains in search of a spot to build a dojo and end up encountering strange footprints, and then hear a yowl, believing it to be a yeti. If you decide to have Amy take a picture, she is able to take one and you hurry to the Coffee Shop to show Aunt Arctic. The photo turns out to be blurry, but Aunt Arctic is willing to publish it anyway. However, you are unable to continue the search for a dojo location as the map you followed fades.
- PH's Great Puffle Search: PH plans to go on an expedition to investigate a sighting of a large group of puffles heading north, but is called away on EPF business. In one path, if you go search for the puffles yourself, you may end up finding them gathering to watch an aurora. You take pictures and show them to PH later, and Aunt Arctic writes an article about this in the Club Penguin Times. In another path, you have PH take you to various locations to see different puffles. If you go to the Snow Forts, you encounter Aunt Arctic, who invites you to her igloo to see her puffles.
Star Reporter[]
Aunt Arctic is a secondary character in Star Reporter. At the start of the book, she hosts a meeting in the Club Penguin Times' office that you, a new reporter, attend. Unable to think of a story, and with a deadline of only a few hours, you are kindly encouraged by Aunt Arctic to try looking for story ideas in the Town. Upon arriving, you learn details about a party at the Iceberg, the play Ruby and the Ruby, and a team red vs team blue match at the Ice Rink. From here, the first "pick a path" choice is presented, and the story varies depending on this choice and further choices. The first choice is to pursue one of these three stories.
Aunt Arctic only sparsely appears in the book, typically during some of the endings. Some paths result in her congratulating you on writing a good story, or giving words of encouragement if you do not succeed. In a few endings, for adept reporting on a specific topic, she promotes you to a specific role such as head sportswriter.

When he secretly saves the Pizza Parlor from sentient pizza dough, she reports on it, referring to the disguised Sam as "the mysterious Shadow Guy", which Sam later decides to use as his superhero name. After Shadow Guy and Gamma Gal save the island, she reports on it again, declaring them to be Club Penguin's resident superhero team.

Club Penguin Magazine[]
- Main article: Aunt Arctic/Magazine
Aunt Arctic appears in most Club Penguin Magazine issues to host Ask Aunt Arctic, like in the Club Penguin Times. She makes occasional appearances in comics.
Mascot appearances[]
Aunt Arctic could first be met as a mascot during the Penguin Play Awards 2009. Since then she appeared at a variety of events, usually ones related to reporting, such as award shows or the Penguin Cup. She also appeared at most anniversary parties since the 6th, in 2011. Clicking on the box button on her Player Card allowed the player to receive an autographed background. On July 27, 2010, the first stamps were introduced, including the Aunt Arctic stamp, which could be earned by being in the same room as Aunt Arctic. The first time Aunt Arctic could be met after her stamp was released was the 6th Anniversary Party, over a year later.
On October 28, 2011, an update for the Friends List was released, allowing mascots to be added from their Player Card. Mascots always instantly accepted a friend request, and when they were on the player's Friends List, their current giveaway could be obtained at any time. The first time Aunt Arctic could be met after the Friends List update was also the 6th Anniversary Party. Mascots could not be sent a request by searching their name like normal players, and instead an icon and message appeared instead. For Aunt Arctic, this message was "Aunt Arctic is writing the newspaper. To add her as a friend, you must meet her on the island."
For the preset messages Aunt Arctic could use while appearing as a mascot, see Aunt Arctic/Mascot scripts. For a list of blog posts featuring scheduled meetup times, see Mascot meetups#Aunt Arctic.

Title: Club Penguin Times Editor
Epic Moment: Crashing a jet pack to see if you get a Stamp!
Description: Aunt Arctic writes a weekly advice column for the Club Penguin Times. In April 2008, she was promoted to Chief Editor of the newspaper.
Stats:
- Fame: 8/10
- Intelligence: 91/100
- Special Skills: 71/100
- Mischief: 13/20
- Friendship: 4/5
Trivia[]
- Ever since the debut of her advice column in issue 32 of The Penguin Times, hovering the mouse over her portrait in the column caused the lenses of her reading glasses to turn black, causing them to appear similar to sunglasses. This was retained when her portrait was updated to a new art style in issue 266, although the lenses were changed to be shaded black rather than fully opaque like before; this was retained in issue 391 following a second art style change.
- In issue 35 of The Penguin Times, she has a bandage on her face in her portrait, as the question she answered required her to play Cart Surfer, and she repeatedly "was sent flying [...] after losing [her] balance".
- During the Marvel Super Hero Takeover 2012, the Ask Aunt Arctic portrait on the villain side of the newspaper displays Aunt Arctic with a stern expression rather than her usual smile. Hovering over her portrait has her smile as usual, however.
- Names attributed to questions in the Ask Aunt Arctic section were, from mid-2007 until May 2015, made up by Aunt Arctic to protect the privacy of the asker, so they would not be afraid to a question that could be considered silly or obvious.[127] This was also done so in case the same question was asked by multiple askers, one asker's name would not be chosen over others.[128]
- Early on, the names attributed to questions asked in Ask Aunt Arctic were submitted by players along with the question. They were a mix of actual player usernames and made-up names, either by the asker, or by Aunt Arctic if there was no name attached to the question.[129]
- Since issue 499, questions were always actual player names.
- Questions submitted in the Club Penguin Times to Aunt Arctic were coded by Screenhog to not send if they contained less than 25 letters.[130]
- Since Ask Aunt Arctic's debut in May 2006, the first time Aunt Arctic did not host the section was in March 2008. In issue 128, Gary hosted "Ask Gary the Gadget Guy" instead, for April Fools'. This next occurred in April 2010 in issue 233, where Rookie hosted "Ask the Rookie", again for April Fool's. In 2011, this became more common, with many other characters replacing Aunt Arctic, particularly during events the character was connected to, such as Sensei during Card-Jitsu-related events. By mid-2014, she was replaced by other characters regularly, and any events occurring had no bearing on characters featured, sometimes even multiple different characters appearing in one month's worth of issues.
- Prior to the Friends List update that allowed mascots to be added, they would provide excuses to why they could not be added. Although Aunt Arctic did not provide an excuse, she considered anyone who has received her background to be her buddy.[131]
- Since 2012, some secret sections in the Club Penguin Times were presented as being from various characters. Aunt Arctic shared secrets in the following issues: "Wait for It..." (342), "Igloo Contest Tips and Secret" (355), "Tips and Secrets Time Travel" (430), "Missing Arcade Machine" (434), "Decorating Your Igloo" (445), "Three Famous Gary Inventions" (447), "Numbered Buoys" (450, 504), "Scoring Secrets" (452), "Hardhat and Jackhammer" (472), "Secret Underground Entrances" (476), "Hydro Hopper Tips" (482, 551), "Secrets of the Cove" (488), "Strange Items Found in the Wilds" (493), "Penguin Style Secrets" (496), "Herbert P. Bear’s Quirks" (498), "The Boiler Room" (529, 558), "The Secret of the Buoys" (547), and "Secrets of the Club Penguin Times Office" (550).
- Since 2015, the back side of the Club Penguin Times sometimes featured fan art with comments from a character, instead of an "Ask (character)" question. Aunt Arctic commented on fan art in the following issues: 491, 492, 496, 498, 499, 503, 509, 510, 511, 512, 513, 517, 524, 526, 527, 528, 530, 531, 539, 543, 544, 546, 549, 551, 556, 557, and 559.

Agency connections prior to Director reveal[]
There were many allusions to Aunt Arctic having ties to the Penguin Secret Agency and Elite Penguin Force, long before the reveal that she was the Director during Operation: Blackout. While some earlier instances may have been the result of a different storytelling style in earlier writing, some, especially by 2012, were blatant hints.
The Director, already aware of the Wheel-Bot's capture
- Aunt Arctic mentioned talking to some agents in the HQ, who were wearing swimwear, after the Summer Party ended.[17] Only agents could enter the HQ.
- Aunt Arctic describes the Director of the PSA as "a close friend" of hers.[213] She also claims the two of them "go way back".[214] In 2006 and 2007, Aunt Arctic received several questions about the PSA, and she consults the Director directly to give more concise answers.
- In Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force, Aunt Arctic appears in the mission Robotomy 101, being one of the citizens in the Town that Rookie is keeping away from the Gift Shop, where the rogue Wheel-Bot is cornered by EPF agents. After the player deactivates the Wheel-Bot, Dot, who is also in the Town, remarks that the Director has already sent her a message of congratulations on stopping the robot, and she remarks "news travels fast". Due to Aunt Arctic also being nearby, this seemingly implies she, as the Director, immediately messaged Dot after seeing the player leaves the Gift Shop with the captured Wheel-Bot.
- When asked in the Club Penguin Times about the benefits of earning all stamps in a game, Aunt Arctic mentions she is only missing one System Defender stamp, a game which only agents could play.[143]
- When asked about if she is a Super Hero during the Marvel Super Hero Takeover 2012, Aunt Arctic coyly states she "could be" the leader of an elite squad of penguins, but then plays this off as a joke. She proceeds to state that if she did have a secret identity, she would not tell anyone, assuring she is good at keeping secrets.[215]
- When asked what she likes doing besides writing for the newspaper, she mentions she has a "few small jobs on the side" that she collects paychecks from.[201] The only jobs with paychecks are Tour Guides and agents.
